The Old Inn
3-bedroom Village Cottage on Exmoor. Sleeps 5
Built in 1763, The Old Inn was once one of two pubs in the area. The other (The Rest and Be Thankful Inn) is in the centre of Whedon Cross and is still alive and highly recommended for evenings out. This former Inn is now a comfortably furnished, pet-friendly Exmoor holiday cottage that sleeps five. The Old Inn is a welcoming haven for walkers, cyclists, and all those wishing to Explore the Moor, its villages, and beaches.
Although fully refurbished, The Old Inn has retained many original features, including wooden beams, a large inglenook fireplace and its traditional heavily-studded, oak front door. The nicely equipped kitchen includes a fridge-freezer, oven, microwave and toaster.
The three bedrooms are on the first floor, along with the family bathroom, which contains a bath with a shower over, basin and WC.
Outside, the private, stream-bordered garden includes a picnic bench for dining outdoors on sunny days and warm summer evenings. There is also a facility for cycle storage and off-road parking.
While there is a handy garage with a shop in Wheddon Cross, The nearest services and other main shops can be found in Exford, a charming Moorland village and Minehead. There are plenty of walks from the door, including the beautiful Snowdrop Valley, a ‘must-do’ walk from mid-February to mid-March, where the nearby valley floor is a carpet of little white blooms. Dunkery Beacon, Exmoor’s highest point offering commanding views, is just a short drive away.
