North Norfolk Coast
The North Norfolk Coast stretches from the bay and estuary known as The Wash in the west to the wild dunes of Winterton in the east. It is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with vast sand and shingle beaches, salt marshes, creeks, classic resorts and sleepy fishing villages to discover. Covering 450 square kilometres, the area is remarkably unspoiled with a pristine stretch of coast backed by mostly agricultural land. Its communities include Mundesley, Cromer, Sheringham, Blakeney, Hunstanton and Wells-next-the-Sea. North Norfolk Coast holiday cottages are near two National Nature Reserves: Blakeney Point, where a four-mile spit of shingle and dunes juts into the sea, and sprawling Winterton Dunes. The Norfolk Coast Path runs from Hunstanton to Hopton-on-Sea, providing a spectacular way to discover the area. This renowned route links with another long-distance footpath, Peddars Way, which follows a Roman Road for 46 miles and is said to be haunted by a ghostly hound known as Black Shuck.
