Relaxing break in a beautiful cottage
My husband & I and our two best friends booked
a short break at this cottage. We were so impressed
with the spaciousness of the cottage and the
facilities. Equipped for self catering, we treated
ourselves to steaks (cooked by the best steak chef!)
The Wain house was wonderfully warm for the
time of year and the hot tub was a welcome treat.
So glad we found Wain house, thankyou for a
wonderful break.
Wonderful, calm and peaceful with everything you need
We have stayed at the Wain House every year for five years now, and originally found it out as we needed somewhere very quiet and doggy friendly.
We were so impressed that we return every year now without fail, and will never go anywhere else!
All the barn conversions here are amazing and the standard, decor and attention to detail is incredible. Right from the start of the booking to the end of your holiday, you will find friendly helpful owners, who are on site but not intrusive, a lovely welcome pack (and even doggy biscuits), towels are included, and most little things, like tea/sugar/cleaning products etc that you would normally have to take yourself are included.
It is so quiet and peaceful, lots of lovely walks around the lanes and lots of pretty villages to visit. Everywhere is doggy friendly which is great and the owners have dogs themselves who are very friendly.
The Wain House now even has a hot tub which is lovely! It is so comfortable and has a private fenced in patio area, safe for dogs and kids.
Cannot reccomend it enough...brilliant place...would come every few months if we could!
Lovely relaxing cottage with added bonus of a hot tub
We stayed at the Wain House in March 2014. Sykes moved us here after a disastrous 2 days at another property. The Wain House lived up to expectations in every respect . It was well appointed, the furnishings and fittings were of a high standard. Everything was beautifully clean and well kept. There was wine and chocolates waiting for us and the following day a wonderful coffee and walnut cake arrived. The hot tub was great, so relaxing. Even in March we used it every day. There are walks from the door and the whole place is very peaceful and relaxing. The hot tub was well maintained with checks done every day. There are other barn conversions on the site and all are very well maintained. All in all a very relaxing stay and I would not hesitate to recommend this wonderful property.
Lovely house, peaceful location!
We stayed here with Bert our Border Terrrier for a week. The house is lovely, comfortable and well-equipped. There was homemade cake, wine and chocolate waiting for us on our arrival. The area is very peaceful, at night all you hear is the odd owl hooting. The house is located within reach of most tourist attractions. Long Mynd and the Stiperstones are a must. We would recommend The Wain House to anyone.
Short family break
Booked for a long weekend to get out walking and a bit of relaxation. Arrived to homemade cake and chocolate to get us started. Had a great time, very quiet, lots to do nearby. Knowledgeable host and ideas folder with the property. Games room attached is basic but enjoyable. Hot tub is well maintained and house is clean and comfortable. Dog friendly with small enclosed area attached to house.
Good for the Soul!!
Upon arrival there is a beautiful cake, we had the Tea Loaf - which we would love the recipe for as it was so yummy! Wine and Choc also!! Lovely touch. Waiting for my nephew was a high chair and travel cot all set up ready. There was nothing we needed to do but relax and enjoy the beautiful surrounding. Walking amongst the countryside, seeing the cows and the wonderful golden fields of wheat was an absolute pleasure. Our Beagle Louie was in his element! This is our second visit as we love it so much we come prepared as shops are a drive away, we always stock up before we go as the cooking equipment is plentiful - everything you could need to cook any meal is readily available! Even down to the supply of coal, wood and fire lighters for the BBQ.. (only one thing we couldn't find a pen for the visitors book - only reason we didn't sign and send thanks) We hope to return with a larger group to try out one of the other Barn Conversions. Thanks again to Marianne and her team. xx
Adverse weather conditions = cottage inaccessible
I have a weekend booking for this cottage as from tomorrow, to celebrate my mums birthday. It is most disappointing that the adverse weather conditions mean the cottage cannot be reached without a 4x4 - nobody's fault, just one of those things.
The owner has tried to accommodate by offering to tow one of our party to the cottage, from wherever we can get to, (as without a 4x4 it will be inaccessible), but this would leave the rest of us stranded, as we are arriving at different times. They would not realistically be able to do this for all of our party.
As the property would be inaccessible we requested a partial refund....even if it is just the amount the owners save on electricity and cleaning costs etc from us not being there, however this was refused.
The weather conditions unfortunately cannot be avoided, but would have expected a token gesture/partial refund, so that we could use this for a birthday meal for my mum instead.
We have been offered a 25% discount if we book again, but on this occasion we have unfortunately lost 100% of our money, with no flexibility on this. This will be a lesson to always take out insurance.
I have been to this cottage before with friends, which was a lovely 5 day break. As I am a repeat customer I would have expected to be treated a little better. As a repeat customer I am highly disappointed and will be taking my custom elsewhere in future.
Discussing atitude
My sister booked this for my mum's birthday as she had been before, we were unable to go as it was dangerous driving conditions with the snow.
I phoned the owner's to try and re-book or get a partial refund we were told no refund and they would not re-book for us very bad customer service we lost all our money. Very upsetting for our whole family we will never book with them again.
Scuppered by the beast from the east
Was really looking forward to a long weekend here with family but the extreme weather and met office advice not to travel have prevented us from going. Given the extreme weather situation which is outside of anyone's control and the fact that we were repeat customers with the expressed intension of rebooking for the next available weekend I had hoped that the manager would have given us a partial refund but they refuse to compromise so we loose our money. Buyer beware!
A well decorated and equipped property with friendly owners who provided a welcome cake, wine and chocolates. An excellent location for touring the lovely countryside and market towns.
Marvellous countryside
Really comfortable cottage. Beautifully fitted out with everything thought of. The enclosed garden was a bonus for the dog.
Lovely cottage, lovely location, lovely owners.
The area is wonderful for peace and quiet and the owners are most helpful and friendly. There is lots to do within easy range.
Excellent barn conversion. Ideal enclosed garden for out two small dogs. Lovely, peaceful setting. Owners very friendly and welcoming. Plenty of places of interest to visit. Although the farm is two miles from the nearest B road, we thought it an ideal setting; very quiet and comfortable at the end of a hectic day.
A tranquil setting in a convenient location. Friendly, relaxed owners make it an ideal dog holiday.
The house was stunning and really comfortable with lovely walks just outside the door.
The property was brilliant and just as described. We had everything we needed and the owners had a home baked cake, a bottle of wine and even some chocolate to welcome us. I would highly recommend this property to anyone wanting a peaceful holiday in lovely surroundings.
Very quiet with friendly owners and dogs. A very enjoyable and relaxing break.
We loved the facilities given to book the cottage. It's been an amazing trip to the English countryside that we'll never forget. The house was fabulous. Great job and well done to the owners.
The owner made us feel very welcome and made it known nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation was very comfortable and warm, and made our short break special. The hot tub was a welcome addition which we used each evening after a busy day of walking or sight seeing. The cottage is situated in a beautiful area. There was nothing to dislike about our holiday.
Fantastic break. Made to feel very welcome. Hot tub great.
The hot tub at The Wain House was a real treat and made our break special. The house itself is lovely, beautifully clean with comfortable beds, nice en-suites and family bathroom. It is very quiet, surrounded by pleasant countryside with lots of walks from the door but within easy reach of places of interest. It is a very professionally run establishment with very helpful and friendly owners.
We had a brilliant time!! Everything was perfect and the owner was very lovely and made us a welcome cake and we had a bottle of wine waiting for us!! Beautiful cottage!! We will definitely come back again!
The hot tub was great and the surroundings were lovely. A beautiful cosy cottage, perfect for a relaxing weekend away!
Great holiday let, the owner is very friendly and helpful. The cottage was immaculate and the beds were really comfy. The hot tub was brilliant and a great bonus. There was lots of seating in the living room with sky and WiFi.
We had an amazing weekend and couldn't fault the property or owner in any way. We will definitely be rebooking in the near future and would recommend to our friends and family.
Everything was excellent. We had lovely welcome gifts and the property was stunning. We had everything we needed, including a games room.
Lovely setting and the cottage was wonderful, there was plenty of space for all of us and it was very well equipped. Would definitely recommend for a peaceful break.
A lovely cottage in delightful area.
The views where beautiful the house was lovely, everything had been thought of and accommodated for. Everywhere was very clean. I would defiantly recommend The Wain House and cannot wait to go back.
Had a fantastic time at The Wain House, great for family get together's. Cottage is very clean and comfortable, everything is there you need. Would highly recommend and looking to return in the future.
A perfect break in every way. The cottage was more than we could have hoped for.
