Brilliant Holiday

The owners of the cottage were extremely friendly and helpful. The cottages was very clean and practical and it proved to be good base to both tour the area and to go on long walks. I would not hesitate to recommend the accommodation. Dislike the midges until we found a suitable spray

Otterburn

Very pleasant & clean cottage. The owners were very friendly and welcoming, make sure you take directions as there is no wifi so had to stop at the mill shop in Otterburn! Even through Otterburn is remote, nearest supermarket is 23 miles away in Hexham there is lots to do and see in Northumberland especially if you are National Trust members. We had a very good holiday and would recommend staying in Otterburn again.

Starry Nights

Had a great 3 nights at Drover's Rest. Ideally located in the Dark Sky area of Northumberland and close to Kielder Forest for star gazing and going to visits to Kielder Forest and Castle.

Cottage was warm and cozy with all the necessary equipment required for a weekend away. Owners live in the house next door and are friendly and helpful.

Would recommend this cottage. Lovely location and still close to all the things you may want to visit, pubs, castles, lakes, countryside.

I would love to go again and I intend to go again in the autumn.

The cottage was lovely, clean and well appointed. there were flowers and a packet of biscuits waiting for us on our arrival.

The heating system was excellent. The hosts were very friendly and left you to do your own thing but were very approachable for help and advice. Although the fridge in the cottage has a small freezer the hosts were very willing to share their large freezer with you.

The surrounding area was the beautiful Northumbrian countryside. Less than 20 miles to the seaside and many places of interest easily accessible.

The local pub (1 Mile approx. away) does excellent food and drink.
The local village shop (3 mile approx. away) is well stocked and offers a dining area offering cooked food etc. There is an Otterburn Mill outlet selling clothing and gifts is in the village also offering snack food.

We loved the peace and tranquillity of the area and the friendliness of the residents and would recommend a visit.

Wonderful property

We have just returned from our week at Drivers rest. The property is warm, comfortable and we'll equipped. The photographs do not do the location justice the views are stunning. Ann and John are very friendly and leave you to enjoy the holiday. There is a lot to see and do around the area. We had never been to Northumbria before but will definitely return to Drivers rest. We didn't want to leave.

Ms Hasler

Excellent in every way.

Mrs Baker

A very clean and well equipped cottage in lovely surroundings.

Mr & Mrs Morris

The location was great for what we wanted, ie. in the middle of nowhere. This might not suit everyone though. Otterburn was a very pleasant village, only about three or four miles away, and the scenery from the cottage was wonderful. The couple who owned it lived adjacent and were very pleasant, friendly and helpful.

Mr Halford

The cottage was well situated for exploring the Northumberland National Park and Hadrians Wall in the south of the region. It was also easy to drive into Scotland, and to the Northumberland coast. The scenery was wonderful and there were so many places to visit. The cottage was easy to access off the A68 but was surrounded by the serenity of the high moors.

Mr Davies

The cottage is perfect for families and people with good dogs and good well behaved children! Exactly as said on the web. Fantastic setting.

Mr Bethell

The location of the cottage, was peacefully set in complete privacy. It was within easy reach of quite a few tourist attractions and restaurants. We will definitely go back to the same cottage again.

Mr Hovland

The splendid views surrounding the property gave a feeling of being miles from anywhere and anybody. However, there were numerous interesting places to visit within very easy distance and good food available at the pub 1 mile up the road.

Mr Mason

The cottage was comfortable and in a lovely position. Nice pub a mile up the road. Ideal for avid walkers and cyclists.

Mrs Rogers

We liked the home comforts that Drovers Rest provided for us. Upon our arrival the owners even provided a vase full of lovely daffodils which was very welcoming. After long days out it was a pleasure to return to the cottage each evening. The facilities were excellent and it was ideally situated being central to most places of interest. Northumbria is a wilderness of beauty - we thoroughly enjoyed this holiday.

Ms Clayton

We (me, my husband and our dog Cody) had a really good week's break walking in this beautiful area.
The location of the cottage provided a excellent base from which to explore the area, from Kielder to the Cheviotts and Hadrians Wall to the Coast, all within a reasonable driving distance through lovely countryside. The cottage itself was of a high standard, clean and comfortable, with excellent views in a peaceful setting and a pleasant garden to relax in. It had everything we needed (and more). The owners were very welcoming and whilst they are nearby should you need anything they also gave us our privacy. The shop in Otterburn was well stocked with all the essentials and local produce needed for the stay. We would definitely consider staying here again.

Mrs Knowles

Excellent Cottage, extremely friendly hosts, ideal for exploring Northumberland.

Mr Darby

Wonderful place - cosy, quiet and away from the hustle and bustle - definitely return if this way.

Mrs Karolchyk

The location of the cottage was lovely and the views breath-taking. The property itself was immaculate and beautifully decorated. The owners were very friendly and helpful. This cottage is perfectly located for exploring the area. There is much to see and do, and information about available sites, walks and history were readily available and current within the cottage.

Mr Reynolds

Drovers Rest was in a good location for exploring the area. The house had plenty of room for four people and was well equipped. The property and garden was well maintained and the area was nice and quiet, with the nearest shops only being a short drive away. We would recommended the Drovers Rest to anyone as good value accommodation.

Mr Barmby

The cottage and surrounding is restful, and a home away from home. I have no problem in recommending Drover's Rest to anyone, we will be going back!

Mrs Downie

Lovely cottage with extra welcoming touches and the owner was very friendly and helpful. Particularly liked the diary which visitors filled in and which gave us ideas on where to visit and good places to eat. We had a quiet and relaxing holiday and some great meals at the local pub.

Mr Ridden

Rural location, larger than it looked on the website. Property spotlessly clean and warm, bedrooms comfortable, garden large, great leaflets providing info on local attractions and the owner was friendly and very helpful. Great location for touring area, 14 miles from Kielder Forest and reservoir. Wonderful towns, very quaint with friendly local shops. Great historic locations within easy driving access.

Miss Cawkwell

We really enjoyed staying at The Drovers Rest, the owners were very welcoming.

Mrs Myers

There was lots to see and do in the area. We felt that the property should have a higher grade than three stars, definitely worth four!

Mrs Rothery

The very good condition of the property and the warm welcome given by the owners. It had a nice lay-out and was very comfortable. Situated in lovely countryside with good food pub and shop close by.

Mr Woolnough

The cottage was well equipped and the scenery & views breathtaking.

A lovely well equipped cottage, situated in stunning countryside. The owners who live nearby were really friendly and helpful, but not in any way intrusive.
