The Kingfisher's Nest, North Yorkshire

Family-Friendly, Eco-Lodge Amidst Idyllic North Yorkshire Countryside. Sleeps 4.

One of the charms of The Kingfisher’s Nest is its seamless blending of luxury accommodation instilled with touches of delightful quirkiness. The property offers guests a stargazing platform with cosy cushions and an outdoor Victorian Bath for couples (the taps are in the middle). There’s also a contemporary indoor en-suite bathroom.
The North Yorkshire country cottage is in the small village of Knayton between Borrowby and Thirsk on the edge of the North York Moors National Park and an easy drive into the nearby Yorkshire Dales.
It contains every essential feature necessary to enjoy a holiday in all seasons with central heating plus an electric ‘wood burner’ to ensure sufficient cosiness on winter nights. Accommodation includes:
This is a light and airy living room with a high pine-panelled ceiling. In one half, there is a sofa bed, armchairs, TV, and an electric ‘wood burner’ offering instant warmth. The other features a kitchen area with fridge, sink, oven, hobs, and worktops opposite a dining area with a pin table seating four.
The double bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with WC, shower and wash basin. Wi-Fi is available throughout the cottage.
The Cowesby Beck gently chuckles its way past one side of the property. There’s plenty of parking space and more for relaxing outside on the large lawn, a paved patio area with outdoor dining furniture and a ‘wild-life-friendly’ natural pond overhung by alder trees. Also in the garden is a large Victorian bath with central taps to accommodate two bathers, heated by a wood-fired boiler. You’ll find enough firewood for at least two baths stored nearby.
The birdlife in the garden, pond and beck is enthralling. Woodpeckers, nuthatches, bullfinches and kingfishers nest nearby, while buzzards regularly soar above.
Beautiful walks are available from the cottage within the Hambleton Hills, the start of the North York Moors just two miles along the road. Local lanes are remarkably traffic-free. The nearby forests of Over Silton and Boltby offer plenty of off-road walking and cycle tracks. The cottage also lies within an easy day or half-day trip distance of York and the coast at Saltburn-by-the-Sea.
