The Hop Kiln

3-Bedroom Leominster Holiday Cottage - Sleeps 7

Luxury self-catering holidays in the idyllic Herefordshire countryside can be yours at the Hop Kiln, a 16th-century holiday escape in a beautiful rural location at Luntley, a quiet village near Leominster. A detached, converted barn that’s been stunningly decorated, the Hop Kiln is large enough for seven guests.

An open-plan living area and kitchen are the centrepieces of this property. Exposed oak beams are featured throughout, and a spiral staircase leads the second-floor bedrooms, including a king-size double with en-suite bathing, one with a set of adult bunks, and one with both a twin bed and a pull-out single. A double sofa bed is also available in the living area. The kitchen has an electric cooker, microwave, and fridge/freezer, while the living area includes a TV, DVD, and CD player, along with three couches and underfloor heating to make all guests feel relaxed and at home.

The gorgeous Herefordshire countryside offers plentiful fishing, cycling, and walking opportunities. The hamlet of Luntley sits amid the Welsh Marshes. Only two miles away, you’ll find the medieval charms of Pembridge, including a 14th-century market hall, three lovely pubs, other exciting attractions and the larger, equally historic town of Leominster. Both Ludlow and Hay-On-Wye are only twenty miles away as well.

Excellant accomodation and surroundings

The ground floor of the property was spacious and ideal as we had two children under five so there was place for them to play. The garden and paddock behind was ideal for ball games and play.

Good price, good stay, glad we went

We stumbled across the Hop Kiln whilst looking for somewhere to stay at short notice for 4 adults and 3 kids for a long weekend. It turned out to be perfect for us, lots of space and an easy space to relax. The accommodation is clean and well presented both inside and out. No complaints at all.

If we did have one criticism it would be that some of the kitchen equipment could do with a bit of a refresh. Whilst there is plenty of it, some of it is a bit tired. Most of the knives are blunt and the top oven didn't work.

Booking could have been a little easier. I found it presented with prices on a booking site, and then on their own site without prices. When I tried to book it directly it got more complicated than it needed to.

If we did have a desire to go back to that area of Herefordshire we would definitely consider it again. The local kart track is also worth a visit.

The whole cottage was of very high standard. It was very comfortable and well equipped. We would definitely book to stay again.

Liked the owner's greeting and cakes on arrival. Isolation and no light pollution so the stars shone brightly. Location good for touring the features of the area. WiFi was excellent to make up for lack of mobile coverage.

Mr Miller

A beautiful property in a part of the country we had not visited before. There were plenty of interesting places to visit. The owners were very helpful and keen to suggest places to visit should we need it. Would like to visit the area again.

Mrs Rutland

All the living space, it made all the difference between feeling cramped with 9 people and a baby, and having enough space for everyone.

Mrs Grant-Jones

Excellent accommodation. Had a very relaxing holiday. The owner couldn't have been more helpful, even letting my grand-daughters feed and hold the baby lambs! Very peaceful area set in lovely countryside.

Mrs Pilgrim

The property is set in a lovely location and the twin bedroom was great for our children. Our hosts were also very friendly!

Dr Wilcox

The peaceful setting, the paddock for the grandchildren to play in and the weather was lovely. Owners were very helpful. We had a lovely week with children and their children.

Mrs Westcott

Friendly owner. Spacious and comfortable accommodation. Quiet area. Had a really enjoyable stay.

Mrs Stretch

It was good to be sitting around the big dining room table with friends and family (with plenty of room around the table even though we were 9)!

Ms Youngman

As a family we rented three of the cottages for our daughter's wedding. It was the perfect setting for a family get together! The cottages were very well equipped with everything we needed and more. Hop Kiln was very spacious and served as a meeting point for everyone to have breakfast. The surrounding area was beautiful and we visited two lovely National Trust properties. The gardens looked lovely and would be wonderful in the summer. The cottages were all spotlessly clean and the heating was very adequate. A very memorable wedding and holiday in Herefordshire! Highly recommended!

Mr Fruer

It was very peaceful, the owners were very welcoming. The barn was very warm, the under floor heating was great. There was everything you needed to cook Christmas dinner and a nice big table to sit round.

Mrs Aitken

A fantastic place, I particularly liked that it was so spacious.

Ms Newis

We had a lovely stay at this truly delightful yet extremely practical property amongst the quintessential English countryside. One couldn't wish for more as we enjoyed long walks throughout the area taking in the sights, sounds and smells. Overall, highly recommended accommodation with welcoming and friendly hosts.
