Isallt, Llanbedr
Isallt is a former farm building, part of the Argoed estate on the North Wales coast near Harlech, and renovated as a characterful and charming 2-bedroom holiday home. Many of the Isallt’s original features have been preserved from the exposed stone walls, both internal and external, and oak ceiling beams and trusses.
Upon entering this pet-friendly holiday cottage in North Wales, guests are greeted with a spacious living area with wooden floors, leather seating, a flat-screen TV, and dining furniture seating up to four. The modern fitted kitchen is also on the ground floor, with all electrical appliances including a double oven and halogen hobs. The kitchen leads to a picturesque patio with outdoor furniture, perfect for an evening meal or breakfast in the sunshine.
Upstairs are the two bedrooms, one double and the other with twin beds, decorated in a contemporary style. There is also the family bathroom with a fitted bath and shower.
From Isallt, you can explore the breathtaking Harlech scenery on the farm and beyond. You can also venture further to the stretches of sandy beaches on the North Wales coast for surfing and making sandcastles, or complete the short drive into Harlech town and tour the World Heritage castle sites.

Great relaxing place
Very friendly place, on a great location. This is a real working farm, which is a great attraction. Nicely finished and well equiped. Would come back and recommend.
great location
what a great place to stay. The conversion is worth 9/10, everything you need. Great place to visit north wales, would recommend it to anyone
Great holiday cottage
This was a lovely cottage, in a beautiful location. We were made to feel welcome and the cottage was like home from home with everything in it that you could possibly want. It also had a cosy feel to it.
We visited the beach which is dog friendly and only about a 15 minute walk, or two minute drive from the cottage most days. Lots to see and do in the area, we did not get to do everything we wanted to do in the week we were there. Would definately return again and also recommend to family and friends.
Fantastic week in Harlech
We stayed in this wonderful cottage for a week. We had a lovely welcome from the owners on our first day. They also had dogs on the working farm, so my children loved seeing their dogs on a daily basis and looking out onto the fields at the sheep and horses. The cottage had absolutely everything in it you would need, was very clean and decorated beautifully with all the features of the barn giving it a little bit of charm too.
We had wonderful weather whilst we were there, which was a bonus.
We would walk (about 15mins) or drive (2 mins) down to the beach every day to walk the dog, which he loved. One side of the beach was specifically allocated for dog owners, which was great.
We had some lovely days out as well, a fantastic base to stay whilst exploring snowdonia.
Wonderful holiday in a home from home
We have just returned from Isallt today. The property was fabulous. It is more spacious than the photos convey with everything you could need to make you feel that you are at home. It was furnished and decorated very tastefully. The beds were very comfortable. The kitchen is fully equipped for self catering, ie. pans, knifes, baking trays, crockery etc so there is no need for eating out if you do not want to. It is ideal for children as there are 2 stairgates, a highchair and a travel cot. (We actually brought our own Hauck travel cot which was the same as the one provided. We find it necessary to use our regular cot mattress with it as the travel cot mattress provided is quite thin and hard.) There is an enclosed garden so it is safe for the children to play, with the added bonus of a calf and lamb who live in a shed next to the garden. My son was able to feed the calf one day which he loved.
My biggest recommendation for this region is the ice cream shop in Harlech - it is just up the hill from the castle. It is truly amazing ice cream, better than any I've ever had anywhere in the world. We went 3 days in a row, was too embarrassed to go for a 4th time!!
Spent all night counting cow bangs!
Whilst the owners were very polite and friendly, the house (Isallt) was attached to the cowshed, and the cows were intermittently but very frequently banging against the joining wall all night so we didn't get much sleep. We took two small dogs and every time they left a 'package' we cleared it up - but the owners dogs kept coming into the garden and leaving numerous packages. We did bring this up with the owners because we felt it hypocritical that they have strict rules around dogs and their fouling, and yet they let their dogs come and 'poo' in the garden which you have paid to enjoy.
The double bed in the main room allows for no room at each side which creates a high level of difficulty in getting in/out of the bed - suggest replacing bed with a divan and no bedstead at the bottom which would make things easier.
Having said all the above, the house was finished to a very high standard, and the owners have put a lot of love and effort into it which certainly shows. Good standard of accommodation and furnishings, and the kitchen was well equipped.
We did accidentally leave behind my husbands pen (which was part of a set presented to him on his retirement - so whilst expensive it also has massive sentimental value). We spoke to the owner who had found the pen, and explained the value of it to us, and even though she agreed to send it to us - we have not received it to date. I think had she sent the pen we would have possibly overlooked some of the issues we found whilst we there.
Fantastic place to stay
I stayed her with my husband, daughter and dog and it made a perfect base for our busy holiday. The cottage is beautifully decorated and furnished and has everything you need. We cooked most nights and found the kitchen well equipped for all our needs. The views from the cottage and adjacent campsite are fantastic. The location is ideal allowing us to visit all the places we had planned. Can highly recommend mountain biking at Coed-y-Brenin, Zip World Caverns at Blanaeu Ffestiniog, the beach (and ice creams) at Criccieth and a hike up Snowdon. Had a fab week and would certainly visit again.
Fabulous stay
We had a fabulous week here. The cottage was spotless and very comfortable, it had everything we needed. The weather was amazing so we were able to explore the area, some fabulous beaches, coastal walks, and a local waterfall. We even climbed Snowdon!! It half killed me but a lovely refreshing shower and a cold beer on the patio once back at the farm finished the day nicely. Thanks for a wonderful week away.
The cottage was beautifully renovated, all the decor and furniture was top quality, even the towels! The farm it was situated on was lovely, the owners were very friendly and extremely welcoming. The views from the site were outstanding, the atmosphere of the place was relaxed and very child friendly. The farm is situated in a good position to access the attractions that Wales has to offer. We really couldn't fault the cottage or the holiday that we had. We really enjoyed our honeymoon even with two small boys to occupy. After the stress of the wedding it was such a relief to find such a peaceful place to relax. Thank you so much, both owners and Sykes Cottages for such a smooth and easy way to holiday.
I loved the whole experience. The property was excellent, the owner was very helpful and friendly, always willing to assist.
A lovely well decorated and furnished cottage with all the amenities we needed and in a lovely location on the farm.
Everything was spot on, cottage was lovely!
Everything was so well thought out, fresh and clean. The family and dogs were very welcoming. It was in a beautiful area, close to lots of lovely things to see and do.
Excellent property and farm. Great place to go and cannot recommend enough.
We would rate this barn 10 out of 10. It's finished to a very high standard and I was very surprised to the extra touches around the property. We had two small children who were also looked after with cots and high chair. We would recommend it to anyone! You will love it!
Peaceful. Relaxed. Friendly owners. Good base for exploring the area. Even nicer than described on website. Great value.
We had a super time at the cottage in a fantastic location and would certainly recommend it to anyone.
The cottage was fabulous, we loved it all. We wish we could have stayed longer.
Lovely setting, great barn conversion. Owned by a lovely family
Beautiful cottage and location and the weather was great too!
The cottage was very well presented. The owners were welcoming and friendly.
A beautiful cottage in wonderful surroundings, very friendly and helpful owners.
I couldn't believe for a cottage that accepted dogs how comfortable it was. In fact, it was one of the nicest cottages we've stayed in!
Peaceful location within good distance of all Snowdon attractions.
Very friendly and helpful owners. The cottage has been renovated well and was very comfortable. Lots of things to do locally, including a beach within walking distance.
The cottage was very cosy and had everything in it that you could need. The location was perfect and to top it off we had great weather too!
Ideal for our needs. The accommodation was comfortable and in a nice location. The weather was good which is always a good factor. I would return to the property and recommend it to others.
Wonderful location, very friendly and approachable owners and a fantastic cottage. All in all, an excellent holiday!
Comfortable, warm and well equipped cottage on a farm. Lovely to see the animals nearby and a great location for visiting the area. Spectacular scenery and beautiful sandy beaches which were quiet and unspoiled. We will definitely return next year!
A lovely property, very cosy. Just what we wanted for a relaxing week.
The cottage was very homely and well equipped.
The property was fantastic, the owner had thought of everything and it was a real home from home. Ideal for taking babies/toddlers as there were 2 stair gates, a cot & highchair. The garden is also fully enclosed but next to a shed so we often had a calf and lamb popping their heads over the fence. Do not miss the ice cream shop by the castle - Hufenfa'r Castell.
The accommodation was in a great location, with beaches and other great attractions in great proximity. It was thoroughly clean, and very well equipped.
Fantastic holiday cottage, could not fault at all, extremely happy and will be returning.
The surrounding area was marvellous, and quite central to many activities and attractions, including the sandy beaches. In 20 + years of cottage rentals, this is by far the best we have visited.
Really enjoyed our stay. Beds were the most comfortable we have ever had. Hosts pleasant and welcoming. Being on a working farm was a plus for us.
Lovely, quiet location and beautiful scenery. Plenty of local historical interest.
The cottage was beautiful and very well equipped. The owners are very nice and friendly and the area is lovely. I would recommend the cottage to everyone as it is such a lovely place.
The accommodation was to a high standard and very comfortable. Really appreciated the fact there was a dishwasher and washing machine, it was a real home from home.
A very friendly host. Very cosy and comfortable property and everything is provided. A good bed and furniture, after a good day walking you can relax on the sofa or garden furniture and at night there is a good bed to sleep in. Bathroom is well equipped with a good shower over the bath. Very friendly people overall and good views to see.
The holiday was excellent, we particularly liked the closed in area where the dog could roam around without her wandering off. It was lovely and quiet and the cottage was very well equipped, lovely and warm.
A beautiful cottage with everything you could possibly need. A home away from home except with stunning scenery and fantastic hosts. The owners did so much to make us all feel welcome on their farm. My son enjoyed playing farmers helper feeding the cows and sheep and bottle feeding the lambs. Even the weather was kind to us and the sun shone most of the time. I would love to go back to the cottage again and would certainly recommend it to family and friends.
The cottage was gorgeous, in great location for visiting the area and lovely to be on a farm feeding lambs! Had beautiful views!
The holiday accommodation was excellent and one of the best cottages we have stayed in. It was very well presented and a generously equipped kitchen added to the experience. All in all a brilliant place to stay.
This was such a wonderful spot for a holiday, with lots of beautiful walks, a lovely little harbour and beach a very short distance away. The excellent standard of the cottage made it a delight to come home to. There was plenty to see and do, people were warm and friendly and the scenery was staggering - made you want to keep stopping for a photograph. We would highly recommend Isallt and we shall certainly go back again.
A comfortable, cosy cottage, welcoming family and a great base to explore Snowdonia.
Really helpful and friendly hosts and a very nice cottage. This is a real working farm and enjoyable because of it. The surrounding area is amazing; we will be back soon.
Lovely place to stay with easy access to so many fantastic activities. We were only here for a week, but we crammed a lot in. The cottage had everything we needed and the owners were very friendly. We would definitely stay here again if we go back to this area.
