Find My Favourite Holiday Cottages in Chideock

Chideock, nestled in stunning countryside on the West Dorset coast, is a captivating village of sandstone cottages, many thatched and the ruins of a Royalist Castle destroyed by General Fairfax in the English Civil War. It’s an idyllic and peaceful village now, but back in the day, it was the haunt of a notorious gang of smugglers who used nearby Golden Cap as their lookout post. For such a small village, it unusually has two pubs (The Clock House and The George Inn), both with an excellent reputation for good food and local ales (probably why they have survived). It’s not much more than a hop and a skip down the hill to the coast at Seatown, where there is a lovely beach and a third pub, The Anchor Inn, right on the beach.
