Hemphaye is the largest of the Littecourt Cottages, surrounded by their lovely gardens – worthy of a visit in themselves - and all within easy reach of Sidmouth’s beaches and the town centre. Hemphaye is spacious, on three floors, Its special delight is the conservatory dining area leading out onto Hemphaye’s own secluded garden seating – perfect for an early evening aperitif whether you’re venturing out or dining in. The perfect holiday hideaway, a credit to its creators, Selwyn and Geoff, and highly recommended.

Everything was just amazing and perfect. The gardens are so beautiful and we fully appreciated how much hard work you put in to make everything perfect and COVID safe.

In these very concerning times, it was good to see that cleanliness and sanitization was taken extremely seriously. Nothing was lacking in either facilities or service.

Littlecourt cottages are the only holiday lets so far that we have ever recommended to family and friends. So far we have stayed in 2 of the cottages with our 2 young sons and found them to be spotlessly clean and comfortable with everything you could ask for. They are in a great location and within a few minutes of both the beach and town centre with plenty of shops and eating places. The cottages tend to get booked really quick so we missed out last year but we are hoping to return in the near future. The owners are amongst some of the nicest people we have ever met and are always happy to help.

This is one of the best and well maintained rental cottages you could wish for. We could not find any faults with it with a very good welcome on arrival also any help was quickly dealt with.On the final day we were given a very nice farewell and have safe trip home. ANN & Brian

Lovely cottage, Very clean, friendly welcome. Fresh bread, milk & a bottle of bubbly were left for us to enjoy. Tiny little comment- no soap on the hand basins.Magazines were kindly left in the lounge. Overall a lovely stay & would return again. Thank you.

Hemphaye is one of a small collection of cottages in the heart of Sidmouth most of which we have stayed in during the last year or so. They are all beautifully furnished, excellently equipped, spotlessly clean, warm and comfortable, but in our opinion Hemphaye is the jewel in the crown. Set in fine gardens, it is quiet and secluded but only a few minutes' walk to the beach, shops, pubs and restaurants....it's a real gem.

Hemphaye Cottage was lovely and clean and in an ideal setting for a relaxing stay. Selwyn and Geoffrey were very friendly and helpful to everyone. Only downside was Hemphaye is not suitable for the disabled especially as there is no w.c. on the ground floor. However, it did not deter our party and we have booked again for 2014 but for two weeks this time and in Magnolia Cottage which we visited whilst we were there and found much more suited to our needs. Thank you Selwyn for a lovely holiday.

The rooms were lovely, the gardens beautiful, very quiet and all beautifully decorated. The owners were really friendly and helpful but never intrusive. The facilities were all in tip-top condition and we had a great stay.

We always receive a warm and friendly welcome from Selwyn and Grahen when we stay at the Littlecourt Cottages. Hemphaye Cottage is beautifully furnised and finished to a very high standard. No-one could ask for more in terms of the facilities in the cottage. Wifi, a good tv, a stereo etc all help to relax you as you plan your next day's activities. The gardens are a great source of pleasure with flowers and aromas in abundance. The outside seating area for "our" cottage is secluded and shaded - perfect for unwinding at the end of a day. Sidmouth is a special place we think and being able to stay in such great surroundings makes our holiday even better. our grandaughter was sad to leave but perked up when we told her we had booked again for next year. A wonderful stay in a wonderful place, managed so well by Selwyn and his team. Well done to all.

We were extremely happy with our stay at Little Court Cottages. The holiday was arranged as a family reunion - 10 people in all. We stayed in Hemphaye, which suited our family perfectly - 2 adults and 3 kids aged 15, 13 and 9. My brother and his family and our Mum stayed in Magnolia which was great as we had easy access between the two cottages. The cottages were clean, very comfortable, well kept, everything in good working order and tastfully decorated. We were especially impressed with the milk and bread on arrival - what a thoughtful touch after a long trip! The gardens and grounds were beautiful too. Everytime we saw Selwyn and Geoff they checked that all was ok - they were very friendly and helpful hosts. We would love to return one day. Highly recommend this property!

We stayed in Hemphaye Cottage early this September and could not have been more pleased. The property is charming - part of a complex of five holiday rentals which make up Littlecourt Cottages. Everything was spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished - a home from home - and the kitchen well equipped for self-catering. The complex is situated right in the heart of Sidmouth but is very quiet and each property has its own patio/garden space and also the use of the lovely communal gardens (which the owners Selwyn & Geoffrey keep looking beautiful). I only wished I had booked the cottage for longer - we had such a lovely stay. I would recommend Littlecourt Cottages to anyone who is looking for high quality accomodation in the lovely town that is Sidmouth.

This must be the best self catering accommodation we have ever stayed in. It was comfortable, tastefully furnished well equipped and felt like home from home . It was in a convenient but quiet situation close to the seafront. We would definitely book there again .

We have stayed in nearly all of the Littlecourt Cottages over the years, but Hemphaye is a special favourite. Beautifully appointed and impeccably maintained as they all are, Hemphaye excels with its delightful conservatory-style dining space opening onto a "secret garden" outdoor seating area. All this is set in the truly splendid Littecourt gardens - featured on TV and in glossy magazines - which always seem, if gardening is your interest, to be evolving new delights. That the charm of Sidmouth town centre and sea front is just a five minute stroll away makes Littlecourt, and Hemphaye, the perfect hide-away for a late Spring holiday.

We really enjoyed our stay in Hemphaye Cottage. We wanted to visit Sidmouth and loved the sound of Littlecourt Cottages, but most of the cottages were booked so we ended up in what was substantial accommodation for two people! Hemphaye Cottage was very well equipped and comfortable and had a private feel to it, with a courtyard garden at the rear and a place to sit out at the front. The bathroom was large, and there was another separate shower on the second floor. I particularly liked the gardens, and had a view of a beautiful flowering climber just outside my bedroom window. Selwyn and Geoff were very welcoming and knowledgeable about the gardens. We'd definitely return to stay again.

Only our 2nd visit just wish we had discovered earlier. Set in fabulous gardens, close to town centre, and short walk to the sea front it really is the most delightful, restful location. Excellent choice of a few cottages, furnished to the highest standard, both the gardens and cottages kept to the highest standards by the owners. Many superb walks close by including the magnificant Jurassic coastline literally on your doorstep, excellent shops and restuarants set in the most delightful Regency resort. It was and is the most enjoyable weeks holiday to choose, can't wait to return. Extra special as my wife is an avid Gardner.

We enjoyed a nice and relaxed stay at Hemphaye Cottage, where the accommodation is of a high standard. The grounds are also a delight and everything is very well kept and maintained. Selwyn and Geoffrey provided a warm and friendly greeting and were attentive throughout our stay. It is clear that they take great pride in their establishment - it is excellent and very well located to enjoy delightful Sidmouth In Sidmouth there is a delightful seafront and lovely shops. Connaught Gardens, complete with tea shop and with Jacobs ladder down to the sea front are well worth a visit. There are lovely walks along the cliff-tops. Many places to eat - we particularly enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and food at Blinis. Many other things to do a short car ride away - Seaton is just along the coast and has a tramway which runs up the valley to Colyton.

Hemphaye is a lovely cottage, plenty of room very clean and a private garden. Three bedrooms , plenty of space to sit around, beautiful dining area. Have stayed there many times with children and grandchildren and we always vote to come back.

The cottage is located in a desirable part of the town.It is very quiet & is set in beautiful gardens. The property has been finished to a high standard. The owners are very helpful, friendly and made us feel very comfortable.

The cottage is very attractive, plenty big enough for six people but still cosy and was beautifully decorated for Christmas. Everything was immaculate and the kitchen probably better equipped than your own! The location is excellent, just a couple of minute's walk to the seafront or centre of town but tucked away in a very quiet street. I would say it's the best rented cottage we have ever stayed in and I would highly recommend it.

Hemphaye is a lovely house in beautiful surroundings. It was spotlessly clean, and well equipped. The location is so central, minutes from the sea and minutes from the town centre. The owners are welcoming and can't do enough to help. The result being we had an excellent holiday and look forward to returning, and wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else.

Hemphaye Cottage is a great place in which to enjoy a relaxing time beside the sea. The cottage is extremely well furnished and immaculately presented. The owners are warm and friendly and do all they can to help the stay be a success. The cottage is about 5 minutes walk from the seafront and the same from the main street. Sidmouth is a friendly place to visit with nice coffee shops and lots of independent shops to browse in. The highlight for us is our family golf competition on the pitch and put course. We have stayed many times at Littlecourt cottages because they are so good, and so conveniently placed. This year we decided to try out Hemphaye which was completely up to standard with a high standard of decoration and equipment - all you want for a really happy time in Sidmouth. I can't think of anything to criticise - which I guess is why we have come back many times. We always feel right at home. The proprietors, Selwyn and Geoffrey, are unobtrusively on hand should we need anything. The gardens around the cottages are fantastic, and each cottage has its own privacy from the others because of the clever planting and arrangements. We first came with our elderly mother because there is almost flat access from the cottages to the seafront, which is close by, and because everything we needed was provided. We now come back because we have enjoyed staying there so much over the years.

Lovely cottage in very peaceful setting, yet within walking distance of the town and sea, great food and lovely walks. Can recommend if you want go for walks and enjoy the views or for a quiet and relaxing stay.

Littlecourt situated 5 minutes from the town the seafront, and the theatre. Bus stop right outside . The gardens are truly beautiful. The town has so many little shops that you do not see anywhere else, there are lots of lovely places to eat. There are beautiful views all around. There is a brilliant hairdressers on site. There is always a very warm welcome from Selwyn and Geoffrey.

We enjoyed our stay in Hemphaye. Cottage is only 4 minutes walk from Town, Beach, Gardens Etc. 2 minutes walk to Bus Stop for Exeter, Lyme Regis or Honiton. Everything that you will need is provided for in the cottage which is spotlessly clean on arrival. Plenty of seating areas in the lovely garden to sit in if required. Nice conservatory dining area in the cottage. We have stayed many times in Littlecourt Cottages over the years and they are so good we just keep coming back!

We had a wonderful family holiday in Oct 14. 7 adults and 3 young children. We had Hemphaye Cottage and The Couch House both were excellent and had everything you require for a self catering holiday. Thank you to the owners Selwyn and Geoffrey they showed us around the cottages and showed us how everything worked, nothing was too much trouble for either of them. The gardens were lovely even in late Oct. We do hope to return.

Hemphaye Cottage is a charming place to stay. Beautifully restored to a high standard. Lovely dining room in a lantern conservatory leading out to a secluded patio area. The location is peaceful and only a 5 minute walk into delightful and busy Sidmouth! We recently discovered a personal connection to Hemphaye Cottage which added to our enjoyment of a perfect holiday. Excellent hosts too!
Fabulous area for coastal path walking. Budleigh Salterton, Branscombe and Beer. We enjoyed: Dartmouth Steam Railway and boat trip; small 18 hole putting green in Sidmouth; a walk up the river Otter from Budleigh Salterton to Otterton Mill tea rooms. Great food in the Rusty Pig, the Anchor Inn and the Smugglers Kitchen and not forgetting all the ice cream stops....

Such a lovely place to stay, so very comfortable and immaculate, beautiful gardens and a very warm welcome. Located not far from the seafront and town. Looking forward to another stay there soon.

We enjoyed our stay at Little Court Cottages very much. We had a friendly and helpful welcome on arrival. It was lovely to find milk, bread and refreshments ready for us. The owners went out of their way to help us, and it was great to have parking included. The location is very close to beach, garden and shops making it ideal for a family holiday.

We stayed in Hemphaye with another couple and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The house has everything you could require in it, the gardens are fantastic and there are an abundance of little places to sit and relax. The house is well situated and within easy walking of Sidmouth and parking was not a problem even with 2 cars between us. The owners were approachable and attentive and I would most definitely recommend anyone staying here

Another stay at our favourite place in our favourite place Hemphaye cottage. Its hard to think of anything else you may need as your every need is catered for. The owners are always helpful but not intrusive and maintain a high standard in all they do. This cottage is in a lovely garden setting just minutes from the sea. Perfect!

Hemphaye Cottage is a perfect cottage just a few minutes walk from Sidmouth Promenade. The cottage itself sleeps six comfortably and the lounge and dining room easily cope with six. The owners maintain the cottage to the highest level. This year, our sixth on the run, the kitchen has been refurbished and a new oven installed. In the family bathroom a new shower cubicle has been fitted to give the cottage a genuine premier feel. The owners are very friendly and are happy to offer suggestions for visits to the wider area to enhance the holiday experience. Needless to say, we have already booked again for next year. There is no better place of its type in which to stay in Sidmouth. Many thanks for a great holiday.

Stayed in Hemphaye with friends during wet and windy weather at first, so the excellent facilities here were very much appreciated. On the first day a new big-screen smart TV was delivered. An easy walk to the town with good pubs (especially The Anchor - good beer and food), restaurants and shops, and the walks along the sea front just a step away. Everyone very friendly, the owners Selwyn and Geoff, the locals and the shopkeepers - we spent nearly as much time chatting as shopping! Went to the theater just a street away, and there are posters for all sorts of festivals which we'll have to go return another time for. Easy to visit other parts of Devon and we'll be back!

Hemphaye Cottage is set in some of the most beautiful gardens you could ever wish to see. The setting, although it is only a short 5 minute walk to the beach, is like an oasis of tranquillity in the rush of modern life. Having said that, you are not far from tennis courts, a putting green, a bustling town and many fine walks, restaurants and magnificent scenery. On arrival the welcome we received was warm and genuine. The cottage was spotlessly clean with every modern facility you might need for a week or so away from home. It is a really great place to unwind. We have booked again for next year already!

Lovely cottage with two outside seating areas front and back. Only 5 minutes to the beach and town and has its own parking space. The owners Selwyn and Geoffrey are always very welcoming and the gardens are lovely. We have been visiting for years and the cottages are always spotlessly clean. Thank you Selwyn and Geoffrey for your extra precautions this year such as the NHS app and your very thoughtful provision of digital magazines instead of paper copies.

I stayed here with my husband, daughter and grandparents August Bank Holiday week. The location of the property is a 5-10 minute walk from the seafront. It is set amongst a group of properties Littlecourt Cottages. In every area, this self-catering property is fantastic. You just can't fault the level of detail which has gone into making your stay here excellent. The property was spotlessly clean, beds made up and towels provided. A hamper was provided on welcome with the essentials bread, milk etc. A guided tour provided by the owner who was very welcoming. I'd like to go back, not sure when, but I hope to! Book up fast as I'm sure it is very popular!

Ideal location for sidmouth where there is plenty to see and do or simply relax. Cottage was ideal for 3 adults and 2 children under 8. Very comfortable with all one would ask for. Owners are particularly helpful. In these days of Covid pandemic they were particularly keen to ensure everything was clean with good instructions on how to handle this extraordinary situation.

The cottages are in lovely gardens and a short walk from the beach ,shops and other facilities . The cottages are maintained to the very highest standard with excellent facilities . The owners Selwyn and Geoffrey are superb hosts and always happy to help and offer advice or suggestions

We have stayed at Littlecourt many times ,always in August with the family .
This time we booked a last minute break at the very end of April.
What a joy to see our favorite place in the Spring.
Hemphaye Cottage is maintained to it’s usual high level .As always there were some new items ,kitchen has been refitted and a new three piece suite.
As we left Geoffrey was hanging lovely new curtains upstairs.
The gardens look stunning with all the Spring flowers.Sidmouth and the surrounding area was a delight at this time of the year.Selwyn and Geoffrey are excellent hosts ,both taking much pleasure from offering a high standard of accomadation and service ,nothing really is too much trouble .
This time a much needed”adult break” but we look forward to returning in August with the family.
