Courthaye Cottage
Courthaye is one of five luxury holiday cottages in East Devon set on a short walk from Sidmouth's town centre and beaches.
It is a perfect holiday home just a short walk from the beach and the town, with parking for one car.
The centrally heated cottage is 600 meters from the town centre and seafront and is easily walkable.
An entrance hall leads to a most attractive and tastefully furnished dining room with an open plan, fully fitted kitchen and breakfast bar. The kitchen has an electric oven, hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, and dishwasher. The shared laundry room also has a washing machine and gas dryer. There is a ground-floor cloakroom.
Double doors lead into the lounge, where you can chill out on the comfy sofas while watching programmes on the 50-inch Smart TV and free Wi-Fi. A feature electric fireplace enables you to enjoy a real fire's atmospheric glow and warmth.
The large sunny main en suite bedroom overlooking the front garden has two single beds, which can be linked to form a six-foot super king-size bed. The second en suite bedroom has twin beds.
A cot and high chair are available upon request.
The owners reside within the complex and will happily offer assistance throughout your stay.
There is a strict no-smoking or vaping policy within the property
Outside is a seating area that overlooks one of the nicest parts of the gardens at Littlecourt Cottages. The gardens have won the Britain in Bloom competition for many years and have even been featured on the BBC, so they will prove popular with gardeners.
The cottages are only a short walk to a range of good restaurants, tea rooms, and pubs. In addition to the popular beach at Sidmouth, the town is on the Jurassic Coast, with over 95 miles of coast and countryside to explore along the South Coast.

home from home
Selwyn greeted us on our arrival and showed us how everything worked in the beautiful cottage. All facilities were first class and it was like home from home. The gardens are beautiful and tranquil and our outdoor area was lovely to sit out at when the weather was good. Thank you for making our stay so wonderful. We will be back.
As always, excellent
Although we have stayed at Littlecourt Cottages for many years, this was the first time we had rented Courthaye. As always the cottage was presented immaculately, it is always a joy to unwind in the peace of Littlecourt . The location is perfect, regular public transport is available practically on the doorstep, while one is only five minutes walk to the sea/town center. Selwyn and Geoff made us, as always, very welcome,
An ideal holiday
Great location, a beautiful and peaceful garden which has many great plants that are well-cared for. It provided us with a relaxing and tranquil holiday that restored our energies again. We enjoy it all so much that we return whenever we are able to arrange it. Congratulations to Selwyn & Geoffrey for maintaining such a high standard.
Consistently high standard of holiday accommodation
We have been visiting Sidmouth and staying at Littlecourt Cottages for many, many years. There is always a very warm welcome from Selwyn and Geoff - and yet again this year there had been further very tasetful upgrades in Courthaye Cottage. Beautiful gardens and such a convenient situation, within short walk of the sea and town centre,
A perfect holiday
The care put into Littlecourt Cottages was evident in the comfortable cottage and beautiful surroundings. Everything from the well equipped kitchen to the comfy bed and beautiful garden was perfect, so much so that we have already booked future holidays. The icing on the cake was the tem minute stroll to the sea.
The best place to stay in Sidmouth
We were delighted to be back in Courthaye again for Sidmouth Folk Week 2015. It's in a quiet street, but a very few minutes walk from all the main festival venues - and the beach! We keep coming back, not just for that, but for the comfort, cleanness and excellent taste with which the cottage is furnished and fitted. Plus the warm welcome and excellent service from the management. If you want a comfortable base for your holiday in East Devon, choose Littlecourt Cottages, you'll love it!
Superlative holiday cottages
This has been our eleventh annual visit to Littlecourt, and each year the standard manages to become even higher than we had thought possible the year before. This year was no different. We have written enthusiastic reviews for Littlecourt for TripAdvisor before, and it is difficult now to find even more praise. These are second-to-none cottages in a beautiful setting, run by second-to-none management.
Perfect in every way.
A beautiful cottage, spotlessly clean and fantastically equipped, very comfortable and warm, in a delightful setting, close to the town centre but quiet and secure. This was our fifth or sixth visit and I wouldn't consider going anywhere else.
Memorable stay in southern England
We were in Magnolia Cottage for 6 weeks this winter. As a family we have traveled extensively and this place in by far one of best memories.Everything was perfect : the space, the cleaning, the comfortable furniture, the kitchen.Great location for us : 5 minutes from the school by car, 8 minutes from a supermarket walking ,10 minutes from the beach walking....Although we were in winter ,we could enjoy the beautiful garden and even better was the kindness of the owners... From far away we say thanks and will be back for sure
Wonderful week in Sidmouth at Courthaye
It was a real pleasure to spend a Spring break in this delightful cottage where everything is of a very high standard. The garden is also beautifully maintained – the magnolia trees were magnificent. The location on Seafield Road is a short walk down to the esplanade and to the shops. We also found through Tripadvisor excellent restaurants. We were fortunate to have sun and blue skies each day to see Sidmouth at its best. The owners, Selwyn and Geoff are on site and were very helpful.
Faultless again
We write a review every year, and this is no.12. There is nothing left to say other than to repeat our continued delight and enthusiasm for Littlecourt and hosts Selwyn and Geoffrey. Courthaye is for us perfect in a perfect setting. Usually we come in August, but this year it was a May visit. The weather in May was considerably better! But weather is only one feature of the constant pleasure of these visits to this cottage and this town..
Charming,clean,comfortable and very welcoming
We enjoyed the cottage once more and have booked again as we enjoyed our stay so much. The welcome was warm and the cottage was spotless and very comfortable. Delightful gardens and handily placed for the town, theatre, and an easy walk to the seafront.
Fantastic holiday
Lovely, well equipped cottage. Great location. Quiet but very close to the centre of town. Local amenities very close by. 5 mins walk to the beach. Very friendly, helpful owners. Good for families. Really enjoyed the break. Highly recommended.
Best Winter break ever.
Every comfort you could wish for. We thoroughly enjoyed our first stay at Courthaye cottage and have booked a return next year and can't wait. We were made most welcome and nothing was too much trouble.
Cannot be bettered, not even equalled
An absolute gem of a period cottage, completely up-to-date, with beautiful prize-winning gardens shared among only a handful of neighbours, the owners in their own home ever-present. All this and a mere five minute walk from the centre of town - Sidmouth, unique even in glorious East Devon. Look no further. You have found it.
Another lovely holiday
Our second time staying in Courthaye. Brilliant accommodation. Very comfortable and a home away from home. Great location for exploring Sidmouth and the surrounding area. Easy to get into the town centre and the beaches on foot. Selwyn and Geoffrey were welcoming as always. Hopefully we will be back!
Wonderful self catering accommodation near to the sea
A lovely place to stay, beautifully maintained accommodation with helpful owners. Good location so near to the sea, shops and theatre. Have stayed there many times and always look forward to returning.
What a TREAT!!
We were delighted to chance upon a last minute cancellation just when we needed a bed. Not only did we he a bed, but in the most gloriously comfortable surrounds, friendly and helpful owners, and in such a fabulous position , within easy walking distance of the beach, theatre and townships. Wonderful. The gardens are a credit to Selwyn and Geoff, as is the great experience they offer in their delicious hotel! Thank goodness we had the chance to experience it!!!
First Class Again
Thank you Selwyn & Geoffrey for another lovely stay in your first class accommodation very clean & spacious as always. Great week helped by some great weather which enabled us to do many of the coastal walks around this area. The only slight niggle was the lack of power from both showers in the bedrooms for some reason don’t think this was a problem last time we stayed. We love Sidmouth and would definitely recommend Littlecourt cottages the anybody else that wants to enjoy the delights Sidmouth has to offer. Hope to see you both soon. The Cosford family.
Home from Home
This is my 5th stay at Littlecourt Cottages and my second in Courthaye. The cottage is very homely and well equipped. This year we did not move outside Sidmouth and spent the entire week walking and relaxing in the cottage. We all thoroughly enjoyed pottering around the town and having coffee in one of the many coffee shops, particularly the one next to the church in Church St. and in Connault Gardens. I am already looking forward to next year!
What more can we say!
Everything was up to the usual standard and despite covid restrictions, Selwyn and Geoff have worked so hard to keep to keep it like that.

Try The Courtyard (next door to Tesco's) for Sunday lunch - best ever!!! But you must book - they get packed and it's only a small place. Food is freshly cooked - no warmed up meat or microwaved veg.

Second to None!
Arrived home today after a lovely week in Sidmouth staying at Littlecourt Cottages, self catering, a beautiful, peaceful oasis , home from home. Clean, tidy and very comfatable. Just a few minutes walk takes you to the centre of Sidmouths shopping area and Esplanade. Good centre for exploring further afield Lyme Regis 30 minute drive, National Trust property A la Ronde at Exmouth, 9 miles away, definite must see, alittle further is Fingle Bridge for those who enjoy a good walk with Castle Drogo near by, National Trust also. The underground Quarry Caves at Beer are worth a visit especially if you enjoy history, fleece ponchos supplied if not dressed warm! Beer itself worth a visit even if you don't fancy the caves. But you can stay in Sidmouth for the week and be perfectly happy. We have had a delightful stay and feel well rested. Such a peaceful environment with such lovely gardens and cottage. The cottage has everything you need in it for self catering and is extremely comfortable. Thank you for your welcome you made us feel at home. We will be returning.
Tips for other travellers
Sidmouth is a beautiful place, and being so close to the sea and amenities was an advantage. There is a good selection of places to eat and the takeaways we experienced were excellent. Enjoyed local places to visit, especially Bicton Gardens.

Coming to Sidmouth for nearly 50 years
After coming to Sidmouth for nearly 50 years, it's hardly changed a bit - we're pleased to say. We've had a great week with our friends here and the icing on the cake has been Courthaye - what a beautiful place. Here's to many, many more years here. Courthaye is beautiful and we are talking already of next years visit
One of the best self catering holiday properties we have stayed in
Thanks for a lovely week in your most comfortable and well presented cottage. I can only echo all that has been said before. Certainly one of the best self catering holiday properties we have stayed in. Thanks

Family Holiday
Five star accommodation ? Spotlessly clean with very comfortable beds. We spent lots of time in the garden which surround the house - there are many shady nooks to sit in and take in the beautiful plants and the garden fountain. The location is perfect for taking a steady stroll into Sidmouth town centre. I would say it’s no more than a 15 minute round trip to pick up the morning papers would definitely recommend. Geoffrey Selwyn and Hazel are so friendly and brilliant hosts nothing is too much trouble - we will be back !
Bliss
The cottage is part of a larger listed property complex. The property is situated in a lovely garden setting. The cottage is furnished to a high standard. The location is in a quiet residential road yet within easy walking distance of the town & the seafront.
Yet another wonderful week at Courthaye!
Our fourth stay and our first following an excellent refurbishment creating a downstairs loo and a marvellous dining kitchen out of two separate rooms. We love to stay at Courthaye for a relaxing spring break. The period cottage is perfectly kept and is in a quiet road just a short walk to the local theatre, the Esplanade, the shops and restaurants where we were able to enjoy some excellent meals. Commendable in every way!
Courthaye Cottage, Littlecourt
Yet another wonderful week at Courthaye Cottage. We were delighted to find a new kitchen layout plus smart downstairs cloakroom, very tastefully done! Returning year after year has to be the best recommendation we can give! Thank you, Selwyn and Geoff, for another great holiday - even the weather was perfect!
Just when you think things can't get any better.....!
We have enjoyed so many lovely visits to Littlecourt over the years, in several of its Cottages, that we have run out of superlatives. But superlatives don't stop Selwyn and Geoff!! Perfectly located in elegant Sidmouth, only a couple of minutes stroll from the Esplanade and Town shopping, this was our first stay In Courthaye since its kitchen and dining room enhancements: all beautifully done and carrying the quality and style trademark of Littlecourt. There is an additional cute loo, too, on the ground floor! The two bedrooms remain unchanged : very spacious, with high ceilings and lovely views, and extremely comfortable beds, so sweet dreams guaranteed! We were able to take a peek at the transformed Magnolia and Coach House and these are equally impressive. So once again, thank you Selwyn and Geoff for a lovely, relaxing week in Courthaye and thank you to Hazel for all the skill and graft that goes into keeping Littlecourt's gardens so exquisite. We absolutely love Littlecourt and look forward to our next visit.
Meets ALL of our needs
We have been guests at Littlecourt for a number of years and usually stay on a weekly basis 2 or 3 times a year. We recently stayed in our favourite cottage "Courthaye". This is our second visit (out of three) for 2019. The quality of cleanliness, hygiene and facilities are, as always, to an exceptional high standard and the attention to detail is excellent. After every visit we try to find fault but fail dismally. Well done Selwyn, Geoffry and "the team". EXCELLENT - looking forward to September.
Another lovely week at Littlecourt Cottages
We have had another lovely week at Littlecourt Cottages, this time staying in Courthaye. As usual the cottage was spotlessly clean on arrival with the excellent welcome pack in the kitchen. This is our first time in this cottage since the recent updates to the kitchen and dining area and these improvements have enhanced the cottage further. We look forward to returning again next year.
Perfect location and cottage
We have been coming to Littlecourt for many years and they never disappoint. The cottage was lovely as ever, the facilities are excellent and Selwyn and Geoffrey are perfect hosts. Littlecourt is in the perfect location, hidden away from the town but just a short walk from the beautiful seafront.

Sidmouth never changes and has retained its old world charm. It has everything you need for an English seaside holiday. The town has plenty of quaint shops and cafes.
Peaceful spot perfectly located for all the amenities in Sidmouth
Only a couple of minutes from the Manor Pavilion; a couple more minutes from the seafront and the museum, easy access to all the shops. Great to have an off road parking space. The cottage is extremely well equipped, very spacious and comfortable. Lovely communal garden to explore and ( if you're lucky) to take cuttings from!
Delightful Cottage
Littlecourt in sidmouth is absolutely delightful, a true haven by the sea. It’s within easy reach of both the seafront and the town. The standard inside the cottages is truly first class. The hosts Selywn and Geoffrey make you very welcome and nothing is too much trouble. My family and I have been going to Littlecourt for many years and so far we have not found anywhere that compares.
Refurbished since last year - lovely home for a week
The kitchen has been revamped and a very useful downstairs toilet added. Very comfortable home for a week - we were actually dancing in the festival so it was wonderful to pop back for a cuppa and sit down in between times - and not far from the Manor pavilion when going to queue! Garden full of lovely plants old and new. Definitely coming back next year ( already booked)
Yet another wonderful holiday
This was our third stay in Courthaye cottage. A true "home away from home". We always feel relaxed here. The kitchen/diner has been refurbished since last year and a downstairs toilet room also installed. A very comfortable stay again and Selwyn and Geoff are great hosts. We always love coming here to stay. This year we also had the Sidmouth air-show to finish the holiday off nicely.
Another wonderful stay
Lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings and within easy walk of both the sea and the town. Very well equipped. Owners friendly and helpful.

Beautiful walk by the river in The Byes. Excellent breakfast at the Donkey Sanctuary with views to the sea. Very good fish and chips from The White Horse.
Excellent comfortable cottages with lovely gardens
Our eighth visit. Always receive a really warm welcome from the owners, Selwyn and Geoff. This time stayed in Courthaye, a spacious comfortable spotlessly clean cottage, the kitchen of which has recently been very tastefully redesigned. Extremely well equipped and everything provided to ensure a really enjoyable relaxing holiday Easy walk to the seafront, cafes, shops, cinema and theatre. So good, have already booked for 2020.
Fantastic as usual
We don't really want anyone else to know about this place as it's hard enough as it is to get booked!! For us it is home from home. Courthaye is immaculate. Selwyn and Geoff are fantastic hosts - nothing is too much trouble. The small theatre is just down the road, the sea 5 minutes from the door and, if you should want to leave Sidmouth, the bus service is great. We return 2 or 3 times a year and woudn't dream of staying anywhere else. This place is perfect.
The perfect cottage in the perfect location!
This is such a beautiful place to stay! Beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean, with parking (hard to find in Sidmouth), two minutes' walk from the beach. The cottage is surrounded by beautiful gardens with many different tranquil outdoor seating areas so that you can follow the sun throughout the day if you wish! Spacious and airy bedrooms with comfortable beds so you get a good night's sleep. If you are unlucky enough to have bad weather the cottage is a lovely cosy place to hole up and watch Netflix or play games. We have stayed at Littlecourt many times and all the cottages are different but all amazing, freshly decorated and beautifully furnished. The owners are lovely and do everything in their power to make your stay perfect.
Home away from home
This is the fourth time we have stayed in Courthaye cottage. It is truly a home away from home. Very comfortable, immaculately presented and spotlessly clean. Selwyn and Geoff always go above and beyond to make guests feel welcome. See you again soon!
