Family Friendly Holiday Cottage in North Devon

Lake View is perfect for a relaxing getaway with family or friends amidst beautiful countryside overlooking tranquil fishing lakes at Lower Aylescott Farm near Ilfracombe. It is nicely placed for walking holidays on Exmoor or the South West Coast Path between Minehead and Hartland Point.

The cottage sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms: a double with en-suite bathroom with shower, wash basin and WC, a separate family bathroom with bath, stand-alone shower, wash basin and WC. The other two bedrooms are spacious twin bedrooms with full-size single beds.

The living area is open plan with a lovely bright lounge that overlooks the garden and lake beyond; it has a TV and DVD and a wood-burner great for cosy evenings after a day walking the coastal path. The kitchen is well equipped with an electric oven and hob, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and microwave. To the room’s rear is a dining area with a pine table and chairs for six people. Outside Lake View is a lovely terrace where guests can sit and enjoy splendid rural views.

Guests are welcome to explore the extensive grounds at Lower Aylescott. A large grassed lawn is home to a huge and new outdoor children’s play area with a tube slide, climbing wall and rope ladder. There are also football goalposts and swings.

The two private lakes at Lower Aylescott are available for use (and only for guests at Lower Aylescott). They are well-stocked with carp, bream, rudd and tench. They tend to be long, lean, healthy fish, and even a Ghost Carp was recently spotted (June 2019). Guests are asked to bring their own rod, bait and license.

The cottage is just a short drive to the fantastic beaches at Woolacombe Bay, Putsborough, as well as the beaches at Croyde and Saunton Sands, where you can learn to surf or wind-surf or try paddle-boarding. The towns of Ilfracombe and Woolacombe have loads of great pubs and restaurants. The village of Croyde is a surfing mecca with great pubs, including The Thatch. There is plenty for children to do at the nearby Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park and Exmoor Zoo and a choice of many more family attractions on the North Devon coast.
