Lake View Cottage lies in a rural location just outside the pretty North Devon village of West Down within the grounds of Lower Aylescott. One of 6 cottages, it shares lovely grounds, two fishing lakes and a children’s play area. The beaches at Woolacombe are only 5 miles away and Exmoor is a 20 minute drive.

Set in beautiful North Devon countryside overlooking the tranquil fishing lakes, Lake View cottage is the perfect place for a relaxing getaway with family or friends. The cottage sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms, a double with en-suite bathroom with shower, wash basin and wc, there is also a separate family bathroom with bath, stand-alone shower, wash basin and wc. The other two bedrooms are spacious twin bedrooms, with full size single beds/

The living area is open plan with a lovely bright lounge that over looks the garden and lake beyond, it has a TV and DVD and a wood-burner great for cosy evenings after a day walking the coastal path. The kitchen is well equipped with electric oven and hob, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and microwave. To the rear of the room is a dining area with pine table and chairs for 6 people. Outside Lake View, there is a lovely terrace where guests can sit and enjoy splendid rural views.

Guests are welcome to explore the extensive grounds at Lower Aylescott. A large grassed lawned area is home to a huge and new outdoor children’s play area, with tube slide, climbing wall and rope ladder. There are also football goal posts, and swings.

The two private lakes at Lower Aylescott are available for use (and only for guests at Lower Aylescott). They are well-stocked with carp, bream, rudd and tench. They tend to be long lean healthy fish, and even a Ghost Carp was recently spotted (June 2019). Guests are asked to bring their own rod, bait and license.

The cottage is just a short drive to the amazing beaches at Woolacombe Bay and Putsborough as well as the beaches at Croyde and Saunton Sands where you can learn to surf or wind-surf or try paddle-boarding. The towns of Ilfracombe and Woolacombe have loads of great pubs and restaurants. the village of Croyde is a surfing mecca and has great pubs including The Thatch. There is plenty for children to do at Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park and Exmoor Zoo.
