The fishing village of Beesands lies on the South Devon coast, on Start Bay, between Hallsands and Torcross. Surfing, bodyboarding, fishing and swimming are popular at the beach, while the lake is a favourite for sailing and windsurfing. The South West Coast Path runs right past the village, with breathtaking views across Start Bay. Walk at least a small stretch of this world-famous route, and watch for passing seals and dolphins. At the village’s southern edge, the Cricket Inn is a historic pub with views of the English Channel, good food and a selection of local ales.

To Beesands’ east, Dartmouth is a charming resort with a 14th-century castle, a theme park and a Blue Flag sandy beach. To the west, Salcombe is another classic resort on the estuary of the River Kingsbridge, with a sandy shore and clear blue waters backed by rolling hills. The mysterious landscapes of Dartmoor National Park are to the north of Beesands.
