Stables Cottage @ Todmorden

Well suited to families or friends, this cosy detached stone-built farmhouse, which dates from the 16th Century, is set on the owner's farm and equestrian centre and offers a fantastic mix of modern facilities with period charm. All three bedrooms - a ground-floor single, a first-floor double and a first-floor twin - have their en-suite facilities, and the living accommodation - a first-class shaker-style kitchen, dining room and sitting room with a wood-burning stove - is decorated and furnished to a high standard.

Guests will enjoy relaxing in the small garden area, and there are plenty of walks from the door. Head over the moors to discover the Bronte sister's legacy, or spend the day in Hebden Bridge by the canal or perusing the shops and cafes. With the Worth Valley Railway (with steam trains) and the Eureka Museum in Halifax within easy reach, this is an excellent cottage for your Yorkshire holiday.

This is a wonderful cottage on a high hillside with beautiful views across the valley and excellent walks in every direction. Lively Hebden Bridge is just down the road, with its interesting nightlife, curiosity shops and the 'old cinema' where they serve tea and scones at the interval.

Enjoy walks from the doorstep across the Brontes' beloved moors, visit the village of Heptonstall with its two historic pubs, or explore the home of the Bronte sisters in nearby Haworth. With the bustling town of Skipton also within an easy drive, this is a superb cottage at any time of the year.

A magical holiday location.

A well furnished and kitted house. A welcome pack and a bowl of fresh fruit on arrival. Four bedrooms each with en suite. Owners very welcoming and helpful. Our handicapped son enjoyed the horses and we enjoyed the easy access to the country side. Good meals in local pubs.

Best cottage we've stayed in

Fabulous cottage in a wonderful location. Service very warm and friendly - made us feel very welcome. Tea, coffee, sugar, milk and a bowl of fruit was waiting for us on arrival - wonderful gesture, just what you need after a long journey. All four bedrooms were en-suite and the master bedroom was luxurious. Pub located fairly close and the local town wasn't too far away. Have already booked this cottage for our holiday next year.

Lovely Stay

This was an excellent cottage which was very well equipped.
It was an excellent location for both the Pennine Way and also the town of Todmorden which was within walking distance although it was a steep climb back!
The Shepherds Rest pub was also within walking distance and this is a great pub with very good food.
This cottage is based in Todmorden rather than Hebden Bridge. Todmorden is a very pleasant town.

Lovely cottage

This is a lovely cottage and the owners have thought of pretty much everything, the tea, coffee, milk and biscuits were very welcomed after a six hour car ride! Staying over October half term we thought it might be a bit on the cold side in Yorkshire however this cottage was lovely and warm. The kitchen was very well equipped, my 8 year old was very impressed with the pizza cutter!!

The owners are very friendly and it was good to be able to look around the stables and see the horses. Great walks a straight out of the door and a friendly local pub within a ten minute walk. Take a torch though as it can be a dark walk back!!

Overall a lovely clean, comfortable cottage which we hope to return to in the future.

Another wonderful Sykes Property

We stayed @ Stables Cottage Hebden Bridge & all I can say they excelled themselves again. From the greeting of the owners plus all the advice on the area plus a great welcome pack on arrival & the house itself was perfect. There was also an added bonus of a wonderful Local just 15 Mins walk serving really good food & Ale plus interesting places to visit who could ask for more. Our american friend was also very impressed. So who could have asked for more.

Great Week in a Great Cottage

t the top of the hill in front of the equestrian centre where the cottages is located.
We have a 2 year old who was fascinated with rare breed sheep and all the very well kept horses.
The cottage is located in the hills above Todmorden and is ideally located for many of the places we wanted to visit. There is also a good pub within walking distance and plenty of others nearby.
Cottage is very well equipped and the large full fruit bowl and wood starter pack (for the log burner) along with some milk in the fridge were all very welcome additions.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this cottage for a first class holiday.

Many thanks :)

Ideal holiday rental

Stables Cottage is a beautiful old barn that has been tastefully modernised whilst retaining lots of character. The accommodation is light, bright and airy and spacious. The open plan kitchen - lounge is a lovely comfortable room for relaxing ,with a wood burner for chilly evenings, the large kitchen area is very well equipped and a breakfast bar divides the two areas. There is a separate dining room too. One of the en -suite bedrooms (a single) is downstairs - good if anyone has a problem with stairs. Upstairs there are in fact three more ( not two more as advertised) bedrooms, all en suite. The master is a lovely room with a very nice bathroom (bath with shower attachment). There is a single room and a twin room both with good shower rooms. Apart from the master the bedrooms arent huge but they all have storage space, a T.V. and are warm and comfortable.
Outside there is plenty of parking space and two separate sitting out areas - one at the side of the cottage which is overlooked by the owners cottage and another more private area at the rear . The owners are very friendly, helpful and welcoming. They run an Equestrian Centre so there are horses passing by the cottage and the stables are very near but if you arent interested in horses and dont want to use the facilities it really doesnt matter.
Although there arent particularly good views from inside the cottage once outside the views in both directions are stunning. The property is set above the town of Todmorden and in fact its a 10 - 15 minute walk down to the town - it does take longer on the way back as it`s quite a steep path back up! There are plenty of other walks from the cottage too and the location is great as there are many interesting places to visit in this part of Yorkshire, and wherever you go you are surrounded by beautiful scenery.
We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Stables Cottage and would really recommend it for couples or for a family.

Wonderful, peaceful and relaxing

This was such a perfect cottage. Everything you could think of.
Andy and Chris (owners) couldn't have been more helpful and friendly, also Chris's dad - a lovely gentleman.

George and Mollie coming to see us each day made it feel like home as we were missing our dog and cats.
I wish I could move in for ever I felt so at home.
The cottage is a credit to them both. Will come again for sure.

Peaceful but close to everything

This cottage actually has four bedrooms rather than the three that were advertised and they are all ensuite. This was a lovely surprise as I was staying with my son and three of his friends so the extra space was useful. The cottage is well equipped and lovely. The evening sun falls on the garden area and it is a lovely place for a barbecue or just to sit with a cup of tea. The neighbours, including the little Yorkshire terriers are lovely and friendly. It was a great place to stay and would recommend it to anyone with a family. Although it is in the middle of nowhere there is a little lane leading down to the town which only takes five minutes to walk.

Frankie V

The cottage provided a really comfortable base and turned out to be in a great location - within walking distance of Todmorden and a pub, yet with the feeling of being miles from anywhere.

Mrs Watson

The cottage was so warm, cosy and quiet, in spectacular scenery. Excellent walking from the door. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend it as one of the best cottages we have ever stayed in.

Mr Schaay

The equestrian centre, run by the cottage owners gave an excellent riding lesson to our 9 and 4 year olds.
Lovely welcome pack with more than just the basics provided on our arrival. Wonderful and peaceful location.

Mr Falvey

4 en-suite bedrooms and the cottage had all mod cons required. Nicely decorated and liked the fact the lounge and kitchen were open plan.

Mr Norbury

Comfortable and tv in all rooms, friendly owners, location and facilities. The best cottage we have hired from you.

Mr Steane

The cottage was very well equipped, clean and well maintained. We found the owners to be very friendly and helpful.
We enjoyed the peace and quiet and the fact that there was a lovely local country pub five minutes walk around the corner!

Mrs Bailie

This cottage is really exceptional, so much space! All rooms have en suite bathrooms, the master bedroom is beautifully romantic and luxurious. The standard of decoration is very high, towels, toilet rolls and a lovely welcome pack were provided. I loved the position in the heart of an equestrian centre and farm - the family and staff were very friendly as were the horses and other assorted animals!

Mrs Hartley

The cottage was lovely, very peaceful which was exactly what we were looking for. We are looking at going again, many thanks.

Mrs Newton

Very nice cottage; clean and comfy, very peaceful. Horses wonderful. Owners very helpful too. Welcome pack very helpful too! Local pub was close and nice with great food. Wonderful holiday thank you.

Muggeridge

We were happy with the overall spaciousness of the cottage. We were provided with tea, coffee, sugar and some fruit which was a very nice touch. The location was lovely, with beautiful scenery and was quiet and peaceful. The cottage was within a short distance of the town of Todmorden, which was full of shops and restaurants. Another big plus was the close proximity of "The Shepherd's Rest" restaurant which had reasonable prices, great food, and fine service.

Mrs Jelstrom

Stables Cottage is in a lovely area. The owners were very welcoming, lots of little extras like welcome food pack and toiletries. A great log fire. We would go again!

Mr Brown

Quiet, relaxing location.

Mr Prescott

This was by far the best cottage we have ever stayed in. The family who run the farm are particularly nice, so all in all it was a great holiday. We also only had to walk a few steps for our riding lessons!

Mrs McCann

This was one of the best cottages we have ever stayed in. Having the whole of Calderdale around us was spectacular! 4 bedrooms now and 4 en-suites. A welcome pack and a large bowl of fresh fruit were much appreciated. Wonderful weather meant we had a perfect time. If you want excellent value for money then this is the place.

Mrs Finney

A very warm, comfortable and attractive cottage with a good wood burning fire. Excellent welcome goodies. Good walks from the door. Very welcoming owners.

Mrs Sinfield

This is an excellent holiday let and the accommodation is very well presented and maintained. This was our second visit.

Mr Braycotton

The cottage was brilliant! It was in a great location, roughly half way between Leeds and Manchester for the wet days and in beautiful walking country for the sunny ones. The owners were very friendly as were the horses.
Probably one of the best equipped cottages we have stayed at for a long time. Great holiday

Mr Marden

The cottage was fantastic, in a great location, and fantastic value. If we ever venture back to this area of UK will be first place I would go.

Mr Fox

We have stayed at quite a few excellent Sykes Cottages properties, and this one is probably the best. The exceedingly good Shepherds Rest just 10 minutes walk away, good beer and good food. All in all a great week was had by all.

Mr Matthews

Lovely cottage, with lots of extras that make it a real home from home stay.

Mrs Alderson

The comfort and location of the cottage. The family on the farm were very friendly and helpful and unobtrusive.

Mr Nuttall

This is a beautifully appointed barn conversion which is well maintained by the on site owners. Unfortunately our weather was poor but this did not detract from a great holiday with friends.
It was a real bonus that all bedrooms were en suite.

Mr Power

Location excellent, owner was friendly, really nice cottage.

Mr Shaw

The cottage was perfect for our holiday. It was warm and comfortable and everything you could want was in the property on a home from home level. The welcome pack was great. Thank you for a great week.

Mrs Johnson

A great cottage in lovely country, all four of us had a great time, excellent place. We will come back again.

Mr Schotten

The welcome basket was very much appreciated and the owners were very helpful and friendly. The cottage was very comfortable and set in a very beautiful location.

Very well equipped cottage in good location for Hebden Bridge and also for Manchester.

Mrs Huddart

Well equipped self-catering accommodation with every bedroom en suite and a welcome food pack provided. Walks, pub and supermarket all within walking distance from property.

Mrs Blair

A peaceful, relaxing, delightful cottage. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely return.

Mrs Hannon

Comfortable excellent accommodation in a beautiful and convenient part of Yorkshire. Owners very helpful and we would not hesitate to return in the future and recommend to friends and family

Mr Shepstone

The owner was friendly and did not intrude despite living close by. Liked the situation of the cottage on a hillside above Todmorden so it was away from it all, but with easy access to a super local pub, and within easy driving distance of the reason for our holiday, walking the Burnley Way.

Mrs Hurley

A lovely location which was very peaceful and the accommodation was great, very safe for our children.
