The Station House
Converted from a stationmaster’s house, The Station House maintains many original features, from high ceilings to stained glass windows. The house is situated on the Pickering to Whitby heritage railway, although its fabulous steam trains do not stop at the platform.
From entry, guests are greeted to a grand sitting room surrounding an open fireplace with a wood burner stove, quaintly decorated in duck egg blues and bathed in the natural light from the bay windows, offering panoramic views of its Ruswarp village setting.
Further on is the traditional farmhouse-style kitchen, complete with modern electrical appliances as part of the suite and a standalone Aga. The room has a small breakfast table and armchair and leads to a separate utility room. Further downstairs is another sitting room with a pure slate open fireplace and gas fire, as well as the spacious dining room seating up to ten. Completing the ground floor is a small shower room.
On the first floor are two of the five bedrooms and the family bathroom, with one double and one family room complete with an en-suite for the children. The second floor holds two further single bedrooms and another double. Outside are two enclosed courtyards perfect for relaxing on days when you decide not to explore the Moors or coast.
