A great location, a well equipped cottage, and good sized living accommodation. We had a fabulous and relaxing holiday.
A great location and an interesting row of cottages, very quiet.
The location of the property was fabulous. The walks nearby were lovely and we visited lots of places.
The cottage was charming and comfortable in a beautiful setting overlooking the millpond. It made a great base for walking straight from the cottage. Our first visit to the Dales - we'll be back!
A good location and comfortable cottage with everything we needed.
A superb cottage in a wonderful setting, an ideal base for exploring the area. The Harts Head in Giggleswick was excellent for food and real ale, just a leisurely 20 minute walk from the cottage.
Excellent accommodation in a beautiful setting. The cottage was extremely well equipped, comfortable and cosy and we loved the coal fire. It was a perfect home from home. We only had a short break but will definitely go back next year for a much longer break.
The cottage was gorgeous and had every item you needed to make it home from home, very well maintained, cosy and inviting, superbly placed for walking in the Dales.
There were lots to do and plenty of eating places near the cottage.
It was our third stay at this property. Need I say any more.
Very tranquil location.
Comfortable and cosy cottage, excellent bedrooms and lovely riverside walks straight from the door.
A beautiful cottage in a beautiful setting. An ideal base to explore the Dales. Would certainly visit again.
A homely cottage - we immediately said we would love to live there. It was a peaceful location with a good selection of shops in Settle and we thoroughly enjoyed touring the Dales both by foot and car.
Exellent location, very quiet and comfortable cottage. Would not hesitate to use it again if we are in that area.
I can recommend this property without any hesitation. Just fabulous, highly recommended.
An extremely comfortable property in a very attractive area.
We just loved the cottage and the lovely area. It was so very special.
We have just enjoyed our fourth stay at this property.
It was a wonderful setting at a wonderful time of year. Most of the week was spent with sub-zero temperatures which meant we made the most of the open fire. A credit to the owners on a wonderful property!
The location was fantastic. Being able to sit and eat breakfast while looking out over the mill pond was a big bonus. Being able to walk into Settle and other walks straight from the cottage was great as it meant we didn't have to drive everyday.
Walks from doorstep! Pond at bottom of garden was lovely. Fish and chips at 'Fisherman' is highly recommended.
"Olive Tree" restaurant is small but excellent food. Great walks from the doorstep.
Fantastic location, nice garden, outlook on mill pond and allotment gardens, good size lounge and bedrooms.
The sight of a unique and constantly changing landscape - and particularly of Pen y Ghent which I first climbed 70 years ago! There was a very high standard of decoration throughout.
We found the cottage very clean, comfortable and very well equipped.
Nice back garden looking onto a pond and lovely walks from the cottage. The scenery was fantastic all round. Highly recommended!
Enjoyed our stay very much.
The location was a beautiful setting and wonderful home base for viewing the Dales. I highly recommend Locks Cottage for anyone who wants to find relaxation and peaceful surroundings for a holiday.
Superb for adults, good walks from the door. Very warm and cosy for winter.
A lovely cottage in a great location. Peace and quiet, lots of wildlife and good walks.
Locks Cottage is an excellent base for a walking holiday. We hardly used the car whilst away; 4 different pleasant walks into Settle alone!
We liked the location. It is a very cosy, well equipped cottage and a good base for exploring both the Dales and the Lake District.
Exceptional! Bright and fresh. Wonderful base for walking. Perfect for peace.
Peaceful location. Large airy rooms, very clean. 20 min walk from bottom of garden to Settle for pubs and shops.
We loved the accessibility to the Dales and the cottage was lovely!
Having such a comfortable 'home' to come back to a day out. The position of the cottage on the millstream with all its wildlife. Lovely view from one of the bedrooms.
The location of this cottage, backing onto the mill pond and also the comfort and general cleanliness of the property made it feel homely. Fantastic Dales scenery and very friendly people wherever we went.
Comfortable cottage in a secluded location.
Comfortable, warm cottage in a good location for walking and visiting local towns. Friendly locals - will probably book again next June!
The cottage was very homely; the warmth and cosiness was appreciated with the disappointing weather. Lovely location, good walks nearby. A nice place to relax after energetic days out in one of our favorite holiday areas.
Great cottage, great location, great weather, great people, what more could anyone want? We will be back. Thanks.
Very well appointed cottage in a lovely location. Would recommend it to others.
Lovely comfortable house - direct access to a number of good walks and not far to a large number of others. We all felt very much at home - could have happily moved in which is probably the best accolade!
The cottage was very nice and clean and it had everything you wanted. It even had jig saws that we could do. Very nice and we hope to return one day.
Fantastic property in a fantastic location.
This cottage is in a lovely area, the river is a major plus. Nice walks and very friendly people.
Locks Cottage is clean, comfortable and well equipped. It has a nice outlook from the main bedroom over the garden, fields and hillside, and an attractive location near the river.
The property is in a wonderful setting.
We enjoyed the quiet, the open fire, and me and my wife being able to smoke!
Great cottage, great area, great people. We have been in Locks Cottage before and enjoyed every minute, so much so that we have taken the step of booking it again later this year.
Loved the cottage and its setting.
The coal fire that we lit every night it cheered up the cottage as we had a lot of rain. It was home from home. The setting of the cottage is beautiful and very peaceful.
4 days spent in a homely cottage with everything you could need, even a coal fire and a mill pond at the bottom of the garden. A brilliant time was had by all.
This cottage was like a home from home, cosy and quiet with plenty of walks straight from the door. Having the ducks on the pond at the bottom of the garden was a bonus. I would recommend this cottage highly to anyone.
Very comfortable cottage with all the necessary fixtures and fittings included. In a great location, with the mill pond at the bottom of the garden. Plenty of places to visit and things to do.
The cottage was cosy and warm.
The situation close to Settle but not in Settle and also on a mill pond with ducks coming up to the house as we ate breakfast. As a base for numerous walks and for access to Settle this is a wonderful spot. The Cottage was very comfortable and the owner was very helpful.
Cottage was very clean and comfortable. The setting was idyllic.
Another great holiday at Locks Cottage (our third visit). The cottage was very cosy and comfortable and the setting wonderful. The local shops just a short drive away. The scenery was stunning. We will return again as we love this place so much.
The scenery was lovely and plenty of nice places to eat.
A great peaceful location. Little extras such as bin bags/cleaning products and fuel for fire all available too. Abundant hot water on demand for instant showers.
An excellent location, peaceful surroundings, and generally a thoroughly relaxing holiday.
This was one of the best holiday cottages we have visited from Sykes. The location is superb, so peaceful and very quiet, with so much to see and do within the local area and the Dales. The cottage is beautifully equipped all over and very tastefully decorated. There are a number of special touches and details throughout the cottage which made for a most welcome and comfortable holiday. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were able to relax in this most special, cosy setting. We hope to be able to return one day.
Very relaxing and peaceful, a home from home.
The homely atmosphere, the wonderful garden, and the peace & quiet all made our holiday special.
In over twenty years of staying in holiday cottages, this was the best we have stayed in. The location was also idyllic.
The cottage provided us with all we needed for a relaxing weekend break. It is clean, well appointed with equipment meaning there is more time to relax. If I could give it 6 stars, I would. We will be booking it again soon, this time for a week. Thank you to the owner.
Locks Cottage is a lovely cottage with everything we need.
Locks Cottage was really lovely. We were welcomed by a lovely coal fire which made the cottage feel very comfortable and cosy. As we stayed at the cottage in December this was a very welcome sight when we walked in, as it was cold and wet outside. The bed was really comfortable and we had a good nights sleep, as was the furniture in the lounge and we were able to relax throughout our stay.
The position of the cottage was lovely, looking over the Mill Pond from the back and a lovely quiet terrace to the front.
All in all a lovely quiet place for a relaxing short holiday, hopefully we can stay longer next time.
The property is a credit to the owner who provides you with a "home from home." We felt at home from the moment we arrived to when we (regrettably) had to leave. We will be back as soon as we can afford the time away, thanks to all.
Locks Cottage was absolutely superb. The location is what makes the place so great, however the cleanliness of the cottage was also surprising. We will be back.
The cottage was lovely with outstanding views all round. Ideal spot for some great walking. It was very peaceful and relaxing.
A great place to stay. Just go there!

Lovely Cottage in Fabulous Location
Loved everything about this cottage. It was very clean and comfortable also well equipped. The location backing onto the mill pond was ideal for a quiet scenic holiday and the surrounding area around Settle was so beautiful. We would love to holiday again in the same area of Yorkshire.
Beautiful location and very peaceful cosy cottage.
Had a lovely relaxing week in a cosy clean cottage in a really good location, shame it rained for three days but it didn,t stop us enjoying the beautiful scenery. The local town of Settle was lovely, the locals were very friendly. Will book again for next year.
Great Cottage - Bad Spam
Great Cottage would rent again - however I am extremely disappointed by the rental company which seams to be passing my email address to everyone including this website which I've never signed up to.
The only reason I am leaving a review is that the cottage was wonderful and I doubt they know that the agency is passing on renters details.
Property was well maintained and very welcoming.
Tucked away in a valley, pond at bottom of garden.
Only downside is the public footpath giving no privacy in garden.
good little cottage
We were pleased when we arrived at locks cottage,we were welcomed by the owner;and she made us very Wellcome and showed us round. The cottage is in a nice location and is not for from the lovely town of settle .And of course the village of Langcliffe is not far at all. Peaceful relaxing holiday cottage
We have just returned from a lovely, peaceful and relaxing stay in this lovely holiday cottage. It was very well equipped. We did a few good walks from the cottage itself, meaning our car could have a rest too! We also visited Clapham, Ribblehead viaduct ,Hawes and Malham, where we viewed the nesting peregrine falcons, via the RSPB near Malham scar.hope to return again some time.
Cottage not as advertised by Sykes and Janet Newhouse (owner)
On arriving at Locks Cottage there was a damp "Musty" smell as for being a Quiet Peaceful haven as advertised there is a right of way to the front and side where drunken youths were climbing the wall in the garden and Sykes and the owner say there is off road parking which there is not you have to park your car up against the front door. We booked 7 days but the smell got so bad that we left after 2 days. when we complained to Sykes and the owner were aggressive and they both refuse to give us a refund nor an apology
Heavenly stay in the picturesque Yorkshire dales.
My husband and I have just returned from a wonderful week in this beautifull cottage. The accomadation is clean, well maintained and is in an ideal location for walkers and cyclists. When the weather was warm enough we enjoyed relaxing in the garden watching the wildlife on the mill pond. The owner Janet takes great pride in her business so there for nothing is to much trouble. We will definitely be returning. Many thanx. X

Very comfortable, warm and quiet. Very relaxing A very handy location for exploring the Dales.
we enjoyed our holiday and the town of settle so much that we booked into a hotel for another 2 nights. The garden was great because of the fact that it had a pond at the end of it and everything about the cottage and its setting was fantastic. We would go back and book with yourselves again in an instant.
I had a sprained ankle so I was delighted that I could rest up in a warm, cottage with a lovely aspect - it really was a home from home. The Black Horse at Giggleswick served fantastic food and would love to vist again. The Dales ought to be seen and viewed by everyone - England really has some lovely scenery!

The whole weekend was fantastic. The cottage scenery, coal fire, fixtures and fittings and local ducks on the pond were added bonuses. The Black Horse in Giggleswick (5 minute drive) is beautiful and the food is gorgeous. The locals are really friendly.

Very peaceful and relaxing setting. Garden was ideal for children. Thoroughly enjoyed the Ducks!Found lovely pub ideal for young children - Anchor Inn, near Twin Locks, Nr. Gargrave.Lovely walks for all the family.South Lakes Animal Park was an excellent day out.
We were almost put off by the advert implying that eating was done in the kitchen. In fact the lounge dining alcove is a most attractive feature. The kitchen is Ok for breakfast. Super cottage.
We particularly liked the garden and the access to footpaths from the doorstep.
Very good beer and food at the Golden Lion, Settle.
Really well equipped and presented - beautiful position.

A very peaceful area to have a short break, the cottage had everything we needed and more.
We had a lovely relaxed week at Locks Cottage, perfect setting for Christmas. Cottage very welcoming when we arrived, with decorations up.
