This charming North Yorkshire cottage is set within four cottages with excellent leisure facilities: a heated indoor pool, a sauna, and a spa. ‘Mallard’ is also designed to be accessible to wheelchair users.

The cottage enjoys a central village location overlooking the village green and duck pond with a pub and children’s play area nearby.

‘Mallard’ is within easy reach of the City of York and the popular coastal towns of Whitby, Scarborough, and Filey. On the doorstep are numerous lovely walks to Newtondale and Cropton Forest, which are generally the eastern area of the North York Moors National Park.

The cottage is on two floors. Downstairs is a twin bedroom and large wet room incorporating a bath, shower, toilet (right transfer) and basin – all with appropriate support rails for wheelchair users in place. There’s a 1.5-metre turning circle in both the twin bedroom and the wet room as part of the requirement to achieve ‘accessibility’. A lounge with a wood burner is reached from the kitchen/dining room via an open archway. The kitchen itself is fully equipped, including a microwave and dishwasher, and is separated from the dining area by a peninsula unit. Upstairs are two further bedrooms – a twin and a double (which overlooks the village green and duck pond) – and a small bathroom with bath and toilet.

The cottage also offers guests DIY stabling and paddocks for horses, which, given its proximity to the North York Moors, is a real plus for those looking for such facilities.

Entertainment equipment includes a Freeview TV, DVD player and stereo radio/CD player. Fast fibre optic Wi-Fi is available free of charge.
