Location

Reviews

The location of the cottage was superb. Really away from it all. The views from the house were stunning and made the holiday. We liked the fact that we could have lovely walks straight out of the door. The house was cosy and warm despite freezing weather and snow with plentiful supplies of fuel for the fire.

Mrs Roberts

Wonderful location, wonderful cottage, great for kids, dogs and adults.

Mrs Anderton

The views from the property itself are stunning - enough to make you not want to go out! There are lovely walks straight from the property making it a great spot for relaxation.

Miss Handisides

The location was ideal for the walking which we intended to do and the views were magnificent despite the weather. The owner was very helpful and friendly.

Mr Wass

This property is all about location and that is simply stunning. You could sit and look out of the living room window for the entire week and not feel you had done it justice. The welcome was very friendly too and we would not hesitate to go back again

Mr Smith

Fantastic setting and views. Secluded and safe for dogs/children.

This is a spectacular property which we always enjoy visiting.

Mrs Winters

This cottage is set in the most amazing position. Peace and tranquility for our whole stay. Surrounded by beautiful scenery and countryside, with only the lambs and birds to be heard. Stunning walks from the doorstep of the cottage.
Our host was friendly and welcoming but not at all intrusive during our stay.

The location of the house is superb. The brochure pictures don't actually do it justice, it's better than it looks.

The view is stunning and the silence is 'deafening'

Mrs Gardiner

Fantastic setting of cottage, very quiet and rural but close to Ingelton which has excellent shops and a climbing wall.

Ms Jackson

As always, Netherscar provided a comfortable and welcoming venue for our get together. The seasonal welcome basket of goodies was a nice touch. The fact that we were effectively snowed in for the duration added a fresh but not unpleasant twist to one of our favourite cottages.

Mrs Winters

I have been to Netherscar several times and always find it to be incredibly relaxing and peaceful.

Miss Roberts

Comfortable house, gorgeous views, wonderful walks, another wonderful holiday. Just like home from home. Thank you!

Mrs Pollard-Prior

Amazing view from lounge. Good walks on doorstep.

Mrs Hickman

The cottage was lovely and had the most fantastic views. We really loved the sun room and the whole place was so quiet and peaceful. Our first visit to Yorkshire and we will definitely be back, hopefully to the same place.

Mrs Bentley

The big spacious house and the location. We think the star rating should have been higher!

Mrs Lee

Very private and with outstanding views. A very good 2 star property, very comfortable and suited our need with our dogs superbly and will definitely return. Had a most enjoyable week.

Mrs Armiger

It was remote and the owners did not bother us at all. Beautiful setting. Lovely local people and simply scrumptious food everywhere! Can't go too often - will put on too much weight! Hope to go back.

Mrs Baird

The isolated location and glorious views combined with a very comfortable cottage. The fridge freezer was not working when we arrived. The owner responded very quickly to obtain a replacement which was much appreciated.

Mrs Howard

The cottage has outstanding, with views over the Three Peaks. It's isolated and completely relaxing, away from the stresses of the world. The location is what makes the cottage excellent. The place to stay.

Mr Cornah

We liked the remoteness and the views were amazing. Great place for a totally relaxing holiday and lots of walks around if needed.

Mr Belk

What can I say? The cottage was great, 5 star - and the view was great too.

Mr Wood

Mrs Land

A great, cosy, homely cottage which was enjoyed by all. This was the perfect cottage for a quiet family week away from busy lives.

Dr Yates

Everything was brilliant really enjoyed our holiday and spent a lot of time at the cottage.

Mrs Cole

The cottage had everything that we needed. Very comfortable. The the views were the best we have ever had when staying at holiday homes over the last twenty years. The property should be graded more than two stars, it should be three or four stars.

Mr Orford

Very impressed with the cottage in general, lots of crockery, cutlery. pans and everything else required in the kitchen, even a turkey roaster provided ! an overall score would be 10. The owners even provided jigsaws and games for use of the guests, although with the spectacular views from the conservaratory especially of the viaduct that was enough to keep us entertained. A big thank you to the owners who even provided enough fuel for our stay at this lovely cottage, will definitely consider another visit.
surprised that the grading is only 2 stars, needs to be more !

Mrs Haseldine

The cottage was very comfortable and offered spectacular views of both the viaduct and surrounding area. Everything we needed was provided in the cottage with even a turkey roaster. Really surprised that the tourist board only graded this cottage 2, should be a 4 at least! Very friendly and helpful owners who even delivered a extra 2 bags of fuel at a very competitive price. Would definitely recommend this property.

Mrs Haseldine

We had a lovely holiday at Netherscar, the cottage is very comfortable, very well equipped and the scenery was amazing, especially from the sun lounge. We will be coming back very soon.

Mrs Rodgers

The views from sun room are breathtaking!

Mrs Smith

Been to Netherscar before, it is the cottage to relax & enjoy, and dogs are welcome. Kids can run free and there is so much to do and see in the area.

Mr Shearer

Beautiful peaceful location, and the cottage was exactly what I expected from a dog friendly place. Enjoyed the open fire and freedom from modern technology. There were plenty of walks for energetic members of the family straight from the door. Managed to sit outside 1 day with a book and a glass of wine, couldn't hear a sound at all apart from birds. Magic!

Mrs Connell

The location of the property has unbeatable spectacular views. The size of the garden enabled
our dogs to chase each other all day long.

Mr Crathern

One of the rare hot weeks this year!

This is the fourth time we have visited Netherscar but never have we had the weather so good! Wall to wall sunshine. It was beautiful to come downstairs in the morning to a clear view of the summit of Ingleborough one way and the magnificant viaduct the other. We never tire of the walks, both long and short from Netherscar. My first visit to the Hill Inn and the food was excellent, a lot better than the Station Inn and what a fascinating place ... a treasure trove! There was a new floor in the cottage and also a new kitchen, which was great. An abundance of wildflowers were filling the garden and the cows had their calves in the field beyond. Heaven!!!

I want to live here!

After spending a wonderful Xmas at this cottage in 2007, we decided to return in the summer holidays. The weather was pretty much the same! You don't come here for the weather though, but for the stunning location. It is pretty remote & the cottage interior is not likely to feature in a glossy 'Homes' magazine but it has the most amazing homely atmosphere, cosy coal fire & you could literally sit for hours taking in the incredible view from the picture window of the 'Sun'room. If weather permits, the 'White Scar' caves are a must. If you are looking for a 'get away from it all' break, this place is perfect. I love this cottage!

Alli

Absolutely Fabulous !

The cottage was lovely, the scenery was spectacular and as first time visitors to Yorkshire we would recommend it to everybody. We had a lovely relaxing time and if you wanted to go out there are some great places to visit.

The Bentley and Bartrop Vacation 2010

Amazing views, excellent walking and bird watching location

We have stayed at Netherscar twice. Both times we have had a marvellous time. The walks from the doorstep are magnificent. Intrepid walkers can do the Yorkshire Peaks if so inclined. For the less agile there are level walks too. The drive up to the cottage is wonderful with sheep and cows sat on the track, reluctantly moving to let the car pass! The view of the viaduct is great and we enjoyed watching trains go over it, walking under it and learning its history up at the very friendly visitor centre. The cottage itself is a little jaded but clean and comfy. Would not win any prizes in an Ideal Home exhibition but that is part of its charm. The owner was quick to rectify the shower which stopped working and attend to all our needs, but never intrusive. There are plenty of places to drive to nearby e.g. Hawes, Ingleton etc. but mostly we enjoyed sitting in the sun lounge taking in the views, reading and totally relaxing. It is a truly 'get away from it all' place.

Warm and comfortable

The main attraction for us was the view and the fact they accepted 2 dogs. The place was warm and comfortable and had everything we needed. The owner was friendly and helpful. We were left to enjoy the isolation and brillient walks from the doorstep.

family holiday

The cottage was a really nice one, there was 6 adults and my then 6month old grandaughter. We had plenty of room so nobody was in one anothers way.
There was plenty of information of what was around and about to do, which was helpful for us when we had done all we had planned.
I phoned the owners the day before and they were really helpfull they answered all i asked.
The only let down we had was the lack of cleaning my eldest daughter and myself had to clean from top to bottom as there was dog hairs everywhere and when i washed the floors i had to change the water 3 times.
The drive up to the cottage is a long way from the road but we didnt mind that.
Dont run out of anything as the nearest shops are a fair distance.
What we all liked was the open views we had, the viaduct was in sight from the sunlounge, the people was all so frindly.
Would we go again... yes we would.

Exactly Right

This cottage ( a house really) is exactly what I was looking for when the lease ended after 13 years on my cottage in Perthshire. One is left completely alone, though help is near at hand, it is warm and roomy, smoking is allowed and if, like me, one is keen on railways, the opportunities for rewarding short drives, cycle rides and walks is almost boundless.

wow

Spectacular views , tranquil will be back again . The owner was contactable and even offered to get shopping if stuck.
Was not disturbed watched the ramblers and sheep, did not need tv.Local pub a two mile walk ,.You can catch a train into settle. This cottage is ideal for silence and views. Would recommend .
The freezer and fridge hold enough for a week so you can stock up , kitchen equipped ok.

What a view

Cottage is basic but clean
Ideal for us with a dog and a baby. Excellent kitchen facilities with oven dishwasher etc. Very secluded and quiet. Just loved it. Brilliant to see a working farm in action. Owners close but didn't bother us. Will be returning just for the view of nothing else

Debbie W

Unclean and very dated - work to improve needed

The location of the holiday cottage is quite remote which is fine but you need a 4x4 to get to it safely as you leave the tarmac and go through the farm and up a dirty road. Luckily we did but the other cars struggled quite a bit. There are some great walks the and the local waterfalls are a definite visit.

I can only describe the experience as boarding on camping. The sheets where dirty and we washed most of the plates and utensils before using them. The wind also is a real problem as it howls down the side of the house as it is set in a gully. The views from the property are amazing and we undertook a walk from the house to the Ribblehead Viaduct which is a must see. Very impressive of the Victorians to build such a monumental structure.

It would of been nice to go back to a nice shower which was permanently cold and smelt so bad I couldn't face using it. The bath was the next option but as the water is brown (due to Peat Water being in use - the property is not on the mains) the though of sitting in it was too off putting so in the 4 days there I could barley wash.

It you want a basic, slightly dirty and dilapidated holiday cottage then this is the one for you and the price reflects that. The internet is very good and quick, but overall this is not the place to go to relax. It is more of place to take dogs, walk and generally be out and about most of the time. There are great local pubs to eat at and to taste some local ale.

dcross2

The cottage, the area and the views from the cottage far surpassed anything we were expecting. Our 3 generations were well catered for with even a well stocked library and games available. Walks from the cottage door were excellent and the Station Hotel served a good pint of Mild and did not object to our pushchair, toddlers and aging dog. The standard of equipment available in the cottage was brilliant even down to water filters. I think this is the second cottage we have had through you and we are well pleased with the properties and the service. We will continue to make you agency our first choice and have already recommended you to 3 of our friends/work colleagues.

Mr Blades

Great walks around the area. Good pubs for food in Ingleton.

Mrs Barker

The view from the second sitting room. The environment, the privacy and peacefulness. The garden was great for our children. So near to both the Lakes, the Dales and the White Scar Caves.

Mrs Cooke

The private road leading to Netherscar is over 1.5 miles long! - a real "get-away-from-it-all" holiday.

Mrs Hall

It is remote, and the scenery is wonderful - the view from the front room window is superb. The house has all you need and is comfortable. The owner was really friendly and helpful.

Ms Cook

A wonderful place to go if you want to get away from it all.

Ms Prout

Superb views, walks and places of interest nearby. Cottage excellent for a family - particularly the sitting room. Mrs. Sharpe was welcoming and helpful . We all enjoyed our week in Netherscar.

Mrs Renner

The cottage and the location overall was brilliant. We all found it very comfortable, and could not fault anything about the place. We will return soon hopefully!

Mr Quate

Excellent views and lovely walks. A lot for those looking for night life.

Mr Garvey

Excellent location, beyond a doubt one of the best views in the Yorkshire Dales from the front room.i

Mr Kestell

The location of the house met all our needs. It was quiet and secluded, yet central for all the things we wished visit or travel to. There were some very good walks from the house including a good walk to the top of Whernside straight from the doorstep. The food and service at the Stone Close in Dent was excellent. The Chocolate Shop in Leyburn is also well worth a visit, very informative staff with decent chocs to boot.

Mr Eddington

Great views from second lounge.

Mrs Strange

Area property in excellent!!

Mrs Sutton

The views are amazing. The children enjoyed the freedom of open space. A place for adults to de-stress!

Ms Bendelow

Fantastic views from the house - quite superb. The area is magnificent. It was a comfortable, relaxed place for us and our small grandchildren. Owner was very pleasant indeed. We would certainly go again.

Mrs Stirling

The whole experience of the holiday at Netherscar is one of the nicest experince going.

Mr Morris

A fantastic setting for a property, a real walker's paradise.

Mr Liasides
