Orchard House, Llangovan
Deep in a secluded rural Valley near Monmouth, Orchard House is a large, luxury Wye Valley farm cottage on a farm where cider apples are grown and Spanish horses are bred and classically trained.
Guests enjoy access to over 40 acres of fields and walking trails through apple orchards and the picturesque Gaer Wood. They also enjoy beautiful rural views across to the Brecon Beacons. Stay with us in late spring and enjoy the colours and scent of a walk through bluebell-carpeted woodland.
Orchard House in the Wye Valley is a large, light and spacious rural retreat sleeping up to 24 guests in 10 bedrooms (8 bathrooms). No traffic noise, just bird song and the breeze. No light pollution either. This is a great ‘dark skies’ location with dazzling starlit skies on moonless nights. The genteel peace and tranquillity of the rural location mean that the house is unsuitable for loud, raucous parties and amplified music. That aside, the house is perfect for gatherings, birthday celebrations and reunions with friends, weekend breaks or long summer holidays for large or dual family holidays.
There is much to discover within the area surrounding this Wye Valley holiday cottage and nearby Forest of Dean, whether going to Orchard House to walk, cycle or drive through the surrounding countryside. You’ll find opportunities to stroll down traffic-free lanes, paddle or (or in) the River Wye (or take the pleasure boat option if you prefer to keep dry). Places to visit include Visit Hay-on-Wye, Symonds Yat, and Tintern Abbey. Along the way, you will find many award-winning restaurants and village pubs for lunches or dinners when cooks decide they need a night away from the kitchen.
On days when you prefer to stay at home, relax with a coffee or something stronger and a good book on the terrace, watching buzzards lazily soaring above the cider orchards. It is hardly surprising that Orchard House lies in a Designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Come and enjoy the experience!

5* New Year - Best Ever
Just returned from a fabulous weeks stay with friends (22 of us). This is our 30th year of spending New Year together and Orchard House is the best property in all that time. It has been recently refurbished and is to an extremely high standard throughout. The rooms are very spacious and most are ensuite. The large and well equipped kitchen and the light and airy dining area were perfect for our group. The games room is ideal for younger (and older!) members of the group. The property is dog friendly and as it is set in very extensive grounds there is plenty of space to exercise. Also a fenced garden with patio and garden furniture. The owners, David and Jo, were very welcoming and gave us a guided walk of the estate which helped us orientate ourselves for the week. For anyone interested in horses, this place is a dream as David and Jo breed Spanish horses. There's so much to do in the area, particularly if you enjoy walking, but also lots of cultural/history visits to make. Highly recommende
50th Anniversary - The Best
I am writing this letter to say how much we enjoyed our 4 day stay at Orchard House as we were unable to complete the visitors book as none of us remember to pack a pen and thought that maybe were you could staple in for u.
We found all the bedrooms had fantastic views and was laid out perfectly and spotlessly clean with extremely comfortable beds. Kitchen was well quipped and a welcome pack was un packed and waiting for our arrival.
The living room so spacious and accommodated 20 of us in comfort, The games room kept the younger ones occupied. The younger ones went off exploring the countryside during the day leaving us older ones home relaxing.
We must also thank you for showing them around the stables introducing the little one to the horses and unicorn which Ariana is still talking about today . Raglan castle was a good attraction and also a trip to an adventure travel proved a great success.
The dark skies were also a bonus as it was clear on most evenings making it great for the telescopes. This is our 50th wedding adversary and I don’t think we could’ve picked a better location to celebrate with close family on this milestone in our lives.
A big thank you to Mr Mrs Jarrett for helping us make this day possible as everyone of us had such an amazing time in such a idyllic location.
Perfect Family Weekend
