Lowe Farmhouse

If you are looking for a pet-friendly rural holiday away from the hustle and bustle of city living, then look no further. Lowe Farmhouse is perfect for lovers of the great outdoors. Located on a 230-acre farm owned by the legendary Scudamore racing family, this large holiday home near Hereford provides ample space to get away from it all and explore the immediate surroundings, accessing the fields, woodland and lakes on the estate via a network of pathways. Using the farmhouse as a base, the Wye Valley, Brecon Beacons, Black Mountains and Forest of Dean can all be reached for day trips, taking in the stunning scenery and exploring the sights whether on foot, by bicycle or even canoe.

The house itself echoes the outdoor space with ample space indoors, too. Once a separate farmhouse and cottage, the two dwellings have recently been joined together, creating an area perfect for a self-catering holiday for large groups, be it a multi-generational gathering, a special celebration with friends, or a stag or hen party. There are ten bedrooms (and seven bathrooms), which can sleep up to 22 comfortably, with two bedrooms at ground floor level. There are two kitchens and a dining room with a table to seat everyone in a single sitting, two spacious lounges, a snug, and a large and well-equipped games room.

Outside, there is plenty of space to the front of the property with picnic tables/seating, parasols and BBQs with stunning views of the Black Mountains, plus a rear courtyard and gardens. Hot tub hire can be arranged for the duration of your stay. A unique feature of Lowe Farm is the outdoor activities centre, which the owners run onsite. If you're feeling adventurous, try paintballing, laser tag, clay pigeon shooting or archery during your stay.

While wonderfully rural, the property is not entirely remote. It is a short 10-minute walk into the village of Much Dewchurch for a visit to the local pub, where real ale and homemade food are served. The locals are warm and welcoming. On days when you want to venture further afield, the county town of Hereford is 6 miles away. It boasts many high street shops and eateries, plus many independents, a leisure centre and swimming pool, theatre, Odeon cinema and the spectacular Cathedral, home to the Mappa Mundi. Ross-on-Wye, Monmouth, Abergavenny and Hay-on-Wye are all unique market towns that can be reached within a little over 30 minutes and are well worth a visit.
