Reviews
great location, cottages, and service
We held our wedding and reception nearby to the cottages, and spoke with the owners about having photographs in their grounds during the afternoon, as well as renting a cottage for the weekend - the owners couldn't have been nicer with allowing us to do pretty much everything we wanted - including bringing 20 or so guests along with us in the afternoon whilst we did our wedding photos in their grounds.
The cottages and grounds are amazing, we stayed in the 'foldyard' cottage which had its own private courtyard garden which was perfect for our photos.
Couldn't rate this place high enough if i tried, totally recommended!
Our extended family of sixteen spent a wonderful week at Broadgate Cottages this July, 2013. We rented three of the cottages for a week, and a fourth when bridesmaids arrived for the wedding, which was the reason for our stay. The lovely cottage, "The Granary", was the perfect place for the bride and bridesmaids to enjoy wedding breakfast and get ready for the wedding.
The Cottages are an easy, scenic walk from downtown Beverley (or a five minute drive.) All the cooking equipment and dishes you could possibly need for self catering are available in the kitchens of the cottage, and the cottages are immaculately clean!
From Beverley, we did several easy day trips to explore Yorkshire including Pikering steam train journey to Whitby, Castle Howard, and, of course, York. The beach just a short drive from Beverley.
Beverley itself is fun to explore, especially the Minster. Not only did we get to experience the wonderful wedding there, but the whole family enjoyed a tour of the Minster including the Tower. Some of our party golfed on the course right near Broadgate Cottages, and we all enjoyed watching the sheep and cattle that are pastured nearby.
Each Cottage has a lovely private back garden area, and there is green space out front to sit quietly and watch the sheep - or to kick a football!
...Whether you want a quiet holiday or lots of action, it is the perfect place to stay!
Gets better every visit
This is our 5th stay at Broadgate farm cottages (at least). They are the comfiest beds I’ve ever slept in, rooms are spotless and they think of everything. Elaine is very friendly and visits on arrival to check everything is okay. There are various cottages to suit whatever size party you are travelling with. We love staying here whenever we visit parents close by, it’s like a mini holiday for us. We wouldn’t stay anywhere else.
The Forge
We have just returned from nine days staying in the Forge. This is a beautifully renovated cottage, immaculately clean and very well equipped. It is in a very peaceful location yet in walking distance of the local village and Beverley. This was an ideal place for our first trip away after lockdown!
Thank you to Elaine and Steve for being great hosts.
Wonderful stay
2nd half in the Foldyard cottage. Both cottages were so cosy, quiet and nicely decorated. The setting was beautiful right in the middle of the country but only a short walk to the local village with a shop and couple of pubs. Beverley town was a 2 mile walk too and a lovely place with plenty to do. Elaine couldn't have been more helpful and was so easy to get in touch with.
Already looking forward to our next stay.
Great Place- Go!!
I visited with a group of friends, and it really was 'wow' when we walked in. We had the Cart House, and it was perfect. Very spacious, high spec and above all very comfortable with a really lovely welcome box of goodies to greet us. Each bedroom had a fabulous bathroom. It was one of those situations where we had arrived in the dark, and had all the fun of discovering the views on awakening. Our floor length windows looked straight onto a field of sheep , and watching them at such close quarters was a real delight. The country views are very attractive and there are lots of walks from the house. We used the garden as the weather was lovely for the time of year , comfortably seating eight around the table. We took advantage of the ' my personal sanctuary' package and all agreed that we must have more massage, reflexology etc in our lives.
As for the surrounding area, there is just so much to do we really needed a week. We managed Beverley Minster ( stunning), the Ferens art gallery in Hull ( hosting the Turner prize and this year is fabulous). We also visited The Wilberforce Museum, The Streetlife Museum ( all free!!!!) and walked on the Humber Bridge. This is breathtaking. I wanted to go to Burton Agnes which is an extraordinary house and which is home to a wonderful art collection and gardens and York is about half an hour away too. Nearby we ate at The Pipe and Glass....yum. Am I going on too much?
This house would be amazing for celebrations. If you hired out the whole complex you could have a whale of a time in the huge lounge kitchen dining room of the Cart House
Top Quality
We stayed 5 nights in December in Foldyard Cottage with our dog and we just wished we were able to stay longer, we loved it so much.
The cottage was immaculately clean and the décor/furniture/equipment was all top quality. The kitchen was fully equipped with plenty of cutlery ,crockery (Portmeirion - beautiful), pans, dishwasher, washer, fridge/freezer, microwave etc - everything you could possibly need.
The rooms were all lovely and light, of a good size and comfortably furnished. Two comfy settees in the lounge, excellent beds and linen, and a good wet room with shower. We particularly liked the very large dining table in the kitchen which gave you plenty of room to spread out. Although we stayed in December during a freezing cold snap, the cottage was always an even, warm temperature due to the underfloor heating - bliss! There was a log burner, but we never had need to use it. Free, good WiFi too.
We also enjoyed the private garden, not overlooked at all, which was beautifully maintained even in the depths of winter. It was too cold for us to sit out, but there was also a large patio area.
Parking was right outside the door with plenty of room to manoeuvre for 2 cars.
With walks right from the door, a paddock to safely play ball with the dog, and close to Beverley Westwood, it was an ideal location. We also had a good lunch at the dog-friendly pub, the Woolpack, near the Westwood (advise booking as dogs only allowed in small snug area).
This cottage is highly recommended, with or without a pet (non dog owners need not worry, the cottage is pristine). There were also other cottages of various sizes in the small complex, all of them very private and all looked to be of the same exceptional quality.
Stayed for our wedding night
Everything was absolutely fantastic. The service was excellent and everyone went the extra mile to accommodate us. We stayed in The Foldyard which was cosy, private and just overall fantastic. The place was impeccably clean and all the amenities were in excellent condition. The bathroom and shower was spacious and modern. The back garden was nice and private and well tended.
We are from the local area, so exploring Beverley and the surrounding areas wasn't our focus. However, Broadgate Farm Cottages are quite close to Beverley which is a great place to explore and go for drinks and dinner.
Excellent self catering stay
Stayed in The Stables. From booking, to arriving, all was simple and straight forward. A lovely cosy cottage, well equipped and extremely clean. Don't usually book properties that allow pets for fear of left over odours, but there was no evidence of any previous four legged guests!
The owners have thought of everything with regard to visitor comfort and information and despite being on a site with a number of similar properties it was very quiet.
Would highly recommend.
