The Loft, Dumfries & Galloway

A world away from the hustle and bustle of daily life, you’ll find The Loft, a two-bedroom countryside cottage nestled on a corner of a 400-acre dairy and beef farm just outside the historic port city of Annan, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland.

Situated in a former 19th-century stable block, this farm cottage has been tastefully renovated to provide lovely accommodations for families who want to experience rural life on holiday. The cottage has a fabulous open-plan living area with a fully fitted kitchen, dining area, and inviting sitting area with picture windows overlooking the farm’s central courtyard.

The grounds include a game room with table tennis, table football, pool table, dartboard and children’s toys, and an indoor hot tub with shower room, or you can walk the rolling countryside that beckons just a stone’s throw away.

The historic town of Annan dates to Roman times and was made a Burgh of Barony by the Bruces in the 13th century. Explore the partially restored harbour quay or walk along Bruce Street to the public park where the mounds of Robert de Brus’ 12th-century motte and bailey still tower overhead. Annan Beach offers views of the large salt marsh and its wildlife, and nearby Powfoot Golf Club is a championship links course that has hosted the Women’s Senior Amateur Championship.

DONT GO THERE

My hols was booked through Scottish Cottages . When we arrived we were confronted by a building site 100 yards from property. Two large dogs followed us around and my own dogs were really upset. the wind got up during the evening and together with the noise of the machinery on building site was intolerable . During the night we could not sleep with the noise the next day we were moved. The owners agreed the property was not fit for letting during building work and no warning was given to Scottish Cottages Scottish Cottages were very good however

Wonderful, cosy home from home.

I have just returned from a stay at The Loft and it was a lovely, comfortable stay. The cottage was immaculate and lovely and warm, just what we needed with the wet weather. We had a warm welcome from the owner and there were fresh flowers, milk, biscuits etc on arrival which was a lovely touch. There is a games room with pool table, loads of toys, DVD's etc. The hot tub was clean and perfect for relaxing after a day in the chilly wet weather. Both the games room and hot tub were shared but we never saw anyone else go in them during our stay. Our three year old especially liked being greeted by the three farm dogs in the morning, they were all incredibly chilled out, friendly dogs. The farm is located in a beautiful area and not too far from Annan. We would definitely return here, possibly in the summer months when more of the nearby seasonal places are open. All in all a really pleasant stay.

For a quiet, good, entertaining holiday with a difference The Loft is a
must! The hot-tub was brill as well as the games room. If you are the
type of family who likes visiting places, it is a perfect central
point.

It was very easy to find. The owners were lovely and very friendly. Their younger son entertained our children. Hot tub was fantastic, overall a great place.

Miss Dyson

The absolute friendliness shown by the Owner. A welcome including fresh flowers, two pints of milk, supply of tea, coffee, sugar, variety of herbs and condiments - it was definitely home from home.
Exceptionally clean farm premises, a working farm, very busy but immaculately clean. A well equipped playing field for any age children, plus hot tub etc. Two very friendly and well trained dogs came to welcome us each time we returned to the premises. Merits all of the excellent ratings I have given.
Even the weather was good!

Dumbretton Farm is extremely beautiful and clean. Everything that you would need in a home is provided in the cottage. Owners are very nice and welcoming. This meant that all you had to do was find your entertainment. The games room was brilliant with table tennis and the hot tub was amazing. The park and grass area was fab too with plenty space to play games. Definitely a relaxing holiday break for a family. We ventured out to Dumfries and Carlisle and found plenty places to visit.

The property far exceeded all expectations in every respect. The owner and the 2 dogs gave us a charming welcome and her attention to detail including welcome tea, coffee, biscuits and fresh flowers was much appreciated. We have never stayed in a rented property so well equipped or cared for. It was a real treat.

Mrs Wylie

The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped, we received a very warm and friendly welcome from the owner, and she was more than happy to make our holiday both memorable and enjoyable and we would be more than happy to stay in the cottage again! The location was ideal for us to attend a wedding at Gretna Green as Dumbretton Farm is only 10 minutes drive away. We visited many places during our stay including Edinburgh, Stirling and Roslyn Chapel, but the highlight of the week had to be visiting the Red Kite Feeding station in Laurieston which was a truly amazing experience and well worth the 1 hour drive.

Mrs Simpson

The host of the property was lovely. The accommodation was very clean and smart looking and very warm. The place was situated in a very quiet location and we could go and leave as we please. It was a very relaxing holiday with the added bonus of a hot tub room with TV. A very nice place to stay.

Mrs Shaylor

A well set up cottage with plenty of room for two. A good base for exploring Southern Scotland. Enjoyed our stay.

Mrs Nation

We liked the farm setting, animals and the very welcoming owners. The kitchen was well equipped, the bedrooms were comfortable and the heating was great.
