Perfect family break in stunning surroundings
We stayed here after finding the cottage on Sykes Cottages. My main criteria was somewhere peaceful, dog friendly, baby friendly...and most of all, local to a good pub!
The village is hidden in Derbyshire..and driving through you get the feeling that you are isolated from the world. We found the cottage, and dived inside to escape the rain. Xmas decorations were up, and cake was waiting for us. The wood fire was stocked ready to light (a lovely touch), and it felt like home from home straight away.
All the bedrooms are lovely, my parents had the master room which was beautiful with exposed beams and fireplace. We had the 4 poster room, which gave plenty of room for our travel cot. The family & single rooms were also very comfortable and pretty.
Off we trundled to the pub to await the rest of our party. A proper old local boozer, with friendly folk and a roaring fire. The atmosphere was highlighted by chaps from another village bursting into the pub to entertain us with a "panto" about George and the Dragon, and the beer guzzling horse. At least I think thats what it was...blame Mr. j. Daniels...
Phyliss the owner of the cottage called into the pub to greet us..a lovely touch, and I doubt there is anything that would be too much trouble for her to make your stay pleasurable.
Dog walks a plenty, muddy boots a necessity. All in all..a wonderful memorable cottage for my Dads 60th birthday surprise get together.
A very comfortable cottage to suit all ages within easy access o
I arranged a suprise weekend away at Orchard View for my husbands 60th Birthday with our children and our grandson. All of the rooms are very spacious and comfortable, with good parking . Our 17 month old grandson slept very well at the cottage and he really loved the Wendy House in the back garden. The owner was very helpful, giving me information about Orchard View, Parwich and also nearby surrounding areas. We visited the local Church and the Pub which serves food and has a shop within walking distance of Orchard View. There is a childrens playground opposite the pub.The people we met at Parwich were very friendly. A very successful 60th Birthday weekend. Everyone including Flo the dog thoroughly enjoyed their stay at Orchard View. Perfect!
a great weekend in the snow
really comfortable, warm and welcoming house in a friendly village - great scenery and walks and a wonderful evening in the pub
Great house to explore Peak District
We were a party of 4 adults and 3 children (aged between 6 mths & 1 yr) and the house suited us perfectly. Plenty of room and a big enclosed garden. The rooms are all very good sizes and the house is in very good order. The village of Parwich is lovely with the pub & the village shop a couple of minutes away. Ashbourne is close by and is a lovely town to explore.
All in all a brilliant place to stay.
70th Birthday Family Gathering!
Had a fantastic weekend, lovely cottage in an idyllic location. Hearing Tom Chambers play the last post was an added bonus!!
really comfortable cottage
Great cottage. Really comfortable stay for a family.
A lovely little village
A comfortable cottage in a peaceful and friendly village. The big kitchen was well equipped and the enclosed garden very popular with dogs and children.

Lovely Cottage
A beautiful cottage set in the very quiet village of Parwich about 7 miles from Ashbourne. The cottage is very well appointed with two good size double bedrooms one with en suite and two further bedrooms. The cottage says it sleeps 9, and there are 9 beds but personally i think this would be a bit of a tight squeeze. Kitchen is lovely with a new Oven and Microwave and a lovely big kitchen table that seats 6.
There is also two lounges and a downstairs toilet which is always handy.
Cottage is only a ten minute drive to the main Ashbourne to Buxton road so location is excellent, the village is very quiet with a church and more importantly a village pub, the pub itself is pretty basic with a limited food menu but ideal for a few pints. There is also a village shop located in the pub for those that have forgotten something !
The only negatives on the cottage, were that you are only supplied with one towel each by the owner, and when the weather is wet all week there is nowhere to dry your towel unless you want to put the heating on so it might be an idea to bring a spare! there is a BBQ at the property but it is in the boot shed around the side of the house, we werent told this on arrival and didnt find it until the last day, not that it mattered as it rained all week. The only other negative is that there is no wi-fi or internet access at the property and no phone signal in the village therefore if you are planning to keep up to date with emails or work etc then you might have a problem.
Over all a lovely cottage ideal for a week getting away from it all.
Fab location, beautiful house!
We were met as soon as we arrived by the very friendly owner, she took us right round the property and told us about the surrounding area. The house is really well laid out with plenty of space for everyone. The utility room was really handy for dirty boots etc, and the games room went down a treat.
Parwich is a beautiful little village, well located with plenty of walks and activities nearby.
Thoroughly recommend this property.
Our stay in this cottage for Christmas made a very special family get together
Beautiful well equiped cosy cottage in an equally beautiful friendly village. Also village pub very welcoming and food very good value. Area perfect for dog walks.
A perfect family Birthday celebration
We could not have found a better or more welcoming place for the whole family to celebrate my husbands' 70th birthday. We had a personal welcome from the owner who showed us all the facilities for our use, perfect for 6 adults,3 small grandchildren and new baby. The kitchen was extremely well equipped, the property very warm and cosy and the grandchildren loved having their own separate sitting room in which to play.A short walk away is the village pub where we received a very warm welcome for our celebration family meal, arranged to suit timing for the children. The pub also provides a shop for your daily needs. Our weekend passed all to quickly and we would love to return for a longer, more leisurely holiday.
Great Location to Explore the Peak District
We stayed in this cottage recently as a group of four friends. This is a great cottage in the South East of the Peak District. Perfect location to be able to walk straight from the house.
The house itself has beds to sleep 8, in 4 bedrooms. There are two double rooms, one single and one triple. One of the doubles has an ensuite and there is another communal bathroom upstairs. Beds are comfortable. Bathrooms were not particularly modern, bud did the job... even if the shower was a bit hit or miss! Downstairs there is a lounge with wood burning stove, a snug room, kitchen/ diner, a uility room with downstairs loo and a games room with a small snooker table in the garage. We had all the equipment we needed in the kitchen to be able to cook what we had planned. Outside there is parking for two cars, but plenty of space for more cars on the street. There is also a front garden which was lovely and peaceful. If you are wanting modern luxury this iss not it, however as a base for walkers it certainly does the job.
Great cottage in a nice village; the owners have done a wonderful job of restoring it and making it a practical and nice place to stay. We have already recommended it to friends and family.
A lovely, well equipped cottage in beautiful surroundings. There were many opportunities for interesting walks nearby. The pool table and table football were particularly enjoyed by the children in the party. Ideal for a family group.
Beautifully restored stone cottage in very peaceful village. Ideal size for 8 adults and one child. Variety of facilities: pool table in garage was a great success. Plenty of opportunities nearby for walks to suit all ages and abilities. Enclosed garden ideal for young toddler. Very friendly welcome. Helpful local information from owner. Please do pass on our thanks to the
owner - Orchard View really was an outstanding cottage; possibly the best we have stayed in so far with you. We'd love to go back again sometime.
I described it to a friend as a picture post card. Will definately reccommend to family and friends.
The cottage was fantastic and we would recommend this to our friends and family.
The village of Parwich is idyllic and everyone we met was extremely friendly. It's very conveniently situated between Ashbourne and Buxton with easy access to the lovely village of Tissington and the picture perfect scenery of Dovedale.
Orchard View was perfect for us, plenty of space and great enclosed garden in which we enjoyed several bbq's. We had a fantastic holiday.

Good pub in village, excellent live music. A superb cottage in a lovely village.
A very well situated cottage for touring the Peaks. Great arrangement of bedrooms to suit 2 families which gave us flexibility with younger children.
The village was superb, quiet, friendly and like stepping back in time. The surrounding countryside as expected was great. The house was convenient for the Tissingtom trail, Ashbourne, Dovedale etc. The house was more than adequate and had everything we needed for a weeks holiday. It was spacious and cosy.
It was such a lovely cottage - very nicely modernised and very clean - it was so easy to feel very comfortable and at home there. The village of Parwich is very nice and friendly and it was very central for visiting other places i.e. Chatsworth House, Ashbourne, Buxton, etc. Also the local pub was vey friendly - with nice food - and within walking distance! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Superb location in a beautiful village. The house felt like home straight away, especially with the lovely gift of homemade cakes. Extremely comfortable and spacious house, with everything we could want. Lovely garden, with a huge lilac in full bloom!
Mrs Gosling was extremely welcoming and helpful.
The property was ideally situated being central to our needs. We enjoyed our holiday and would return to the property again. It was also nice to have a pint glass to drink out of as I usually have to take my own!
All has been said, a lovely property which makes for a great holiday. The folks in The Royal British Legion are extremely friendly.
A wonderful cottage with a lovely helpful owner. The property was set in a delightful, peaceful village which was a great base for a superb holiday.
This was our party's seventh year away together and this was definitely the best cottage we have stayed in.

Homely, comfortable and the most well equipped property we have ever stayed in this country. Parwich was both beautiful, scenic, extremely friendly and welcoming. It was just a great shame we could not stay longer. Thank you.
Property exceeded my expectations and location was excellent.
Our party consisted of three generations and the property was perfectly suited for all. The village was picturesque and provided walks from the door.

It was set in the most beautiful village we have ever been to. The house was beautiful, spacious and very well equipped, it had a lovely homely feel and lots of extra touches - fresh cakes awaited us on arrival. The owner was very helpful and friendly, it was a joy to stay there.

Great property for families, groups, plenty of space. Local shop/ pub 'The Sycamore' - excellent. Just a lovely property. Owner very welcoming.
Really comfortable cottage in a great location. Owner very welcoming and helpful.
The property is set in a good location - lovely village.
The location was very good, the garden and village was perfect for two young children. We could walk safely around the country lanes.
We loved the welcome from the cottage owner, she was genuinely friendly and helpful. The cottage location is perfect for dog walkers & folks who want to do nothing but trundle to the local pub for a few shandies. A great location to escape & unwind in peace and rural beauty. The cottage is lovely, a modern kitchen and plenty of space for everyone to mingle. We were all very happy to spend hours sat in front of the log fire just chatting and dozing. For the more adventurous folks, Parwich is only a short 20 minute drive to Ashbourne.
Everything we needed for the family and extended family was provided. The owners could not have done more for us. Great location to see the best parts of the Peak District. The snow was a real treat!

Great layout of the property; 2 living areas so good for children and adults to have some separate space, bedrooms are large and utility room great for wellies and coats. Fantastic garden for small children and dog as all enclosed. Good location for seeing such a beautiful area. Pub and shop 2 minutes walk and some lovely walks from the property, all uphill to start with! Really lovely property that suited 3 generations perfectly and very welcoming and friendly owner.

This was a lovely cottage - a comfortable and enjoyable break.
Lovely, comfortable house in a beautiful Derbyshire village. Had a very friendly, helpful owner. In an excellent location. Top marks all round for a super long weekend away.
We spent our holiday in Orchard View House with my daughter, son-in-law and baby granddaughter. The cottage was welcoming, spacious and well equipped. The kitchen is modern and large - a very nice room. The utility room is a lovely space in which to bath the baby, wash and dry clothes, etc. Having 2 sitting rooms meant that we could spend some time separately as well as together, which was nice. The en-suite bedroom is situated a little apart from the other 3 bedrooms and family bathroom, which afforded privacy to both parts of the family. The cottage was very clean. The garden was large and well kept, and the car parking area was just right for our 2 cars. The location of the cottage was perfect for us, as the village is beautiful, and the village pub, (which doubles as the village shop) was very welcoming and served good beer and nice, comforting, homely food which was just what we wanted.
Beautiful village setting, lovely and quiet. The cottage was great. Very large bedrooms. Would go again.
An absolutely fabulous cottage in great central England location for family meet up. Everything that was needed was already there, a home away from home. The owner was very helpful and thoughtful. I would recommend this property to anyone.
Lovely family accommodation, perfect for our group. Set in a beautiful Dales village in glorious countryside with easy access to the fabulous Dovedale and the greater Peak District.
A lovely cottage in the most picture postcard pretty village. Everything we needed and more.
