There was a variety of things to do on your doorstep. You were very close to Keilder but also close to Hadrians Wall and you had shared use of a new all-weather tennis court in the garden. There was fishing too on site if you wanted it. The owners were very friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. There was a lovely welcome note and a bottle of wine waiting for us when we arrived. The accommodation was very spacious and very comfortable. There was a comprehensive and up-to-date folder listing all there was to do in the area, places to visit, where to eat, where all the facilities were etc.

Mr & Mrs Earle

The Coach House is spacious, well-equipped, and warm, with lovely antique furniture and very comfortable beds! We received a very friendly welcome from the owners. The weather was good and the scenery spectacular.

Mrs Taylor

A very welcoming house and hosts. Every need was catered for.

Ms Liddle

Better than our greatest expectations. Also found Sykes Cottages booking staff extremely efficient and friendly.

Mr Hallatt

Great house and location for an active family holiday.

Mrs Clayton

The owners were very welcoming and helpful. Restful and comfortable accommodation in super location. Bedrooms a delight with a huge kingsize bed in one room. Log fires a real bonus and learned to cook on an aga with great success.

Mr Spicer

Very helpful and friendly owners. A wonderful place to stop the world and get off for a few days.

Mr Doyle

A warm welcome by the owners who left tea, coffee, milk and wine for our arrival. The locality of the property was fantastic and also the price was very competitive. The new tennis court was a big hit with all the family and the large garden is fully enclosed so ideal for young children and pets.

Mr & Mrs Hobson

The lovely location of the cottage. The open fire and the AGA were really nice features. The owners were very nice and friendly and didn't interfere with our enjoyment. The tennis court is great, completely new and refurbished.

Miss Richardson

This was a really luxurious property and superb value for money too. We have already mentioned it to several of our friends. The tennis court is splendid and we thought the pool at the local hotel excellent too. Absolutely beautiful cottage - exceeded expectations.

Dr Stone

A friendly welcome from relaxed owners, always willing to help and accommodate us.

Mr Charteris

Lovely, friendly owners who cannot do enough for you - nothing is too much trouble. Fabulous gem of a property! Everything you could ever want from a holiday cottage and more. We will definitely be staying at The Coach House again.

Mrs Hudson

The garden is fantastic and being able to use the tennis court was a real bonus. If the weather had been better, we would have spent much more time out there.

Ms Fardoe

You could not have wished for a nicer place. The warm welcome (incl.the wine)the cosy atmosphere, everything was perfect. The surrounding country side, the local people and pubs. Information leaflets were available to read and a full glossary of all we needed to know was at hand. We were allowed to take our two well behaved dogs, even the rabbits that were merrily munching away at the owners vegatable patch were friendly. Despite the weather we had a brilliant time, the owner was away but came back as we were leaving, a very nice gentleman, we hope to go back in the not too distant future, back to Hadrian's Wall and Greysteads Coach House, lovely.

Mr Pannett

Very homely and lots of space in the house.

Mr Bowman

Beautiful surroundings and a stay in a wonderful house.

Ms Fardoe

The location, the tennis court, the house - Everything was excellent.

Mrs Tritton

Friendliness of the owners - very helpful but we were given our own space. Simple but important differences we haven't experienced before - eg, bottle of wine on arrival, very comprehensive tourist info guide (first time we haven't needed to go to the local tourist info office).

Mrs Reese

Property well equipped and comfortable. Area excellent for walking, cycling and sight seeing. The tennis courts were a real bonus.

House was very good plenty of room for 6 people and dogs!
Keilder Water is stunning.
The Monroes were very friendly and helpful

Mrs Rutherford

The owners were almost on site but never interfered and were very helpful when we did contact them. The garden and tennis court were divine. As a family getting together for a silver wedding, it 'extended' the house and gave us lots of space to chat and unwind. The Aga in the kitchen gave us hours of cooking fun. A real treat for the cooks amongst us. We just felt so relaxed and with so much to do within a close radius, I couldn't have chosen more wisely, if I do say so myself.

Mrs Walker

The use of the tennis court, the range in the kitchen and the quiet peacefulness. The owners' personal tourism guide which was a genuine and true account of local activities and information.

Mr McWhirter

A lovely garden, ideal for dogs and children. A beautiful first class location.

Mr Ricketts

Tennis courts great for children/adults. Spacious rooms, welcoming owners.

Dr McMillon

The property exceeded expectations and was better than described in the brochure. The exposed oak beams and general "olde worldiness" of the property gave a unique charm that we haven't experienced before. Tennis court, wildlife, peace and quiet, beautiful scenery, king size bed, lots to do and see, walks, garden, house... all fabulous.

Mrs Johnson

The huge garden & tennis court were brilliant for playing games with the kids and the grandparents! Peaceful location and beautiful views and there is lots to do nearby. Nice to stay in a property that is old and characterful, but fitted with all mod cons.

Mrs Arrowsmith

The Coach House was lovely and well furnished. It had great character and tonnes of space. We played tennis every day, which was one of the main reasons for staying here and the court was in perfect condition.

Ms Bosworth

The Coach house is a lovely property and very comfortable for our stay. The whole family enjoyed the tennis courts and the walks around the area were great. We took advantage of Calvert Trust, which is only a short trip away, and the boys took part in many activities they would not normally try such as climbing wall, canoeing, zip wire and king swing. This really made our holiday.

Mr & Mrs Lister

Excellent location and external facilities, garden etc. Plenty of internal space. Interesting and suitable furnishing throughout. Welcoming hosts.

Mr Friend

We felt right at home from the moment we stepped in. The owners were on hand if needed, to advise and help, but totally non intrusive. The weather was not at its' best but the heating was more than adequate. The garden was great for the dogs and there are plenty of walks at Keilder Water. Mrs Smith

The warm welcome by the owners. The immaculate attention to detail throughout the house and general thoughtfulness for what a holiday maker needs in a home-from-home. It was the most enjoyable stay we've ever had in a holiday cottage.

Mrs Wootton

The whole experience was stress free, from booking to actually taking the holiday. The Coach House was all that it said, and more. We really can't stress how beautiful the house and location, and how helpful and pleasant the owners were. The house was full of charming features, was olde world yet with modern facilities. No expense had been spared, from ultra modern shower room and Aga, to antique furniture and numerous paintings. The garden was a delight to behold, perfect for us to enjoy, yet totally enclosed to allow dogs and children to roam unattended. I could go on, but suffice to say that this cottage is perfect, warm, dry and welcoming.

Mr Foster

Very friendly owners who live next to the property. Views from the property are stunning. The furniture is not new, but classy - most of it is antique and in keeping with the house. The house was warm with the central heating on and has a lovely log burner in the lounge. The beds are spacious and comfortable. If we return to Northumberland in the future and there is no reason why not as it is a beautiful place, we will return here.

The house itself, in terms of size, layout and equipment, as well as its situation, were perfect for us. The location was great, the house position and gardens are wonderful and the house is well decorated, furnished and stocked with crockery, cutlery and the like. No mobile phone signal is a actually a benefit, it means being genuinely free from work, but having WiFi is good, and essential for kids with iPads and the like. Also there is so much to do/see within 60mins drive. There was nothing we didn't like.

Mr Maltman

We loved the tranquillity of this place, with nothing but the sounds of bleating lambs from the neighbouring farms and birdsong in the woods to disturb the peace. The cottage itself had every creature comfort you could wish for.

Feeling at home in a holiday cottage

From the moment we opened the door to this beautiful home to the time we closed it, we felt as though we were at home. The owner of the cottage had ensured it was warm and welcoming and was friendly and non intrusive throughout our stay. My sons who live in Newcastle and Scotland are unable to visit us at our home in Sussex very often and do not spend time together due to work commitments, this lovely house opened its doors to us all and we spent many evenings round the log fire together. Unlike many holiday homes, where it is obvious the owner has filled the rooms with utilitarian furniture and fittings, this lovely coach house had things that 'fitted'it was charming and we fell in love with it. Especially the Queen bed.We took some lovely photos from the kitchen window and now |I want to go back.

absolutely perfect in every way

The cottage was reasonably priced, was tastefully furnished very comfortable and a superb location for walking and kielder forest . As we played tennis it was an added bonus. The only thing i have to grumble about but im sure it will be tackled in the near future is the path down to the river and along needs clearing as it was quite overgrown. The owners were very helpful and friendly.

A FlipKey verified reviewer

An absolute pleasure!

We could not fault this cottage. Everything about it from the location to the facilities to the owners exceeded all our expectations. Without doubt we will book this cottage again.

relaxing, comfortable and very well equipped coach house

A very comfortable well equipped holiday home. The only problem we had was the size of the radiators in the house - as the weather was cold outside the radiators didn't give out enough heat in this high celing, large rooms, coach house. The owners were very pleasant and made us feel very welcome.

We brought our australian friends here who thoroughly enjoyed their first ever stay in an english country cottage.
Lovely cottage and gardens.

Relaxing break in a beautiful setting

The service from Sykes was excellent staffare very pleasant. Mr and Mrs Monroe who own the cottage live in the house next to the coach house and were on hand if we had any queries. Very nice couple who left a welcome gift of Milk in the fridge and a lovely bottle of red wine.
The cottage was very comfortable and the furnishings enhanced the cottage feel. Well equipped with everything you could need. The Queen sized bed was heaven.
The cottage is set in large grounds with a lovely river walk just outside the gates to the cottage. It is also a short drive to Keilder Forrest with great walks. Not far to the Coquet Valley We found a lovely Butchers in Bellingham and are coming back to him for our Christmas meat as it was so nice.
Enjoyed the tennis court which was well used throughout our stay. Loved the log burning stove. Just a perfect cottage to enjoy a realaxing break. Would deffinately return.

A country house holiday , no cottage this one.

We stayed at the Coach House to provide a base from which our children could run the Keilder Marathon, and then stayed on for the rest of the week. What a treat a real home from home, everything was comfortable ,clean and tasteful. Wonderfully equipped spacious and just wonderful. To be really picky the only thing that was not up to our home standards was the shower which was a bit small, but we will be back despite this as there is always the bath.!!

Fantastic family retreat

This cottage just oozed character. From the comfy lounge with log fire and bureau, the spacious formal dining room complete with suitably chunky furnishings, the scatter rugs and massive king size bed in the main room and the warm and inviting kitchen - this cottage wraps its arms around you from the start! The owners live next door - close enough to call on if you need anything (like local information) but not so close that you feel invaded. I will be back to this lovely part of the country and if this cottage is available I will certainly book it again.

Exceeded already high expectations!

A fantastic, impressive house beautifully furnished and very well equipped. The secure walled garden was lovely for us and our dog to enjoy. Owners were very welcoming, offering help should it be required and respected our privacy too! A wonderful house in a wonderful part of the world.

Relaxing in style!

Thoroughly enjoyed a relaxing and peaceful week at The Coach House. Left to our own devices, within easy drive of Holy Island on the coast, Bamburgh Castle, Kielder Forest and Bellingham. Property was great for large family, or like us, a couple with dogs and room for visiting overnight family members. Made to feel very welcome, and the owners were very helpful with a blown tyre due to a serious pothole in the area - the only downside to the entire week. The state of the roads in Northumberland leaves alot to be desired! However, managed to source local help via the owners and enjoyed an enforced day off with local walks and exploration. The property is very spacious and flexible enough to cater for all visitors and our four legged friends, all 3 of them! Heartfelt recommendation to stay here even in February!

Wonderful for star gazing

A beautiful property that is really well appointed with quality fixtures and fittings. The house is warm and very comfortable and the location is great for getting around the area especially Corbridge, Hadrians Wall and Kielder Forest. The walks through the forest are fantastic. The garden at the Coach house is wonderful for star gazing and we actually saw some shooting stars. The owners are delightful and are on hand if needed but do not impose themselves on you. If we visit this area of Northumberland again we would definitely go back to this property.

Mrs

Had an amazing week staying at this fabulous Coach House. Everything was thought of to make our stay perfect and to top it off the most gorgeous homemade lemon drizzle cake on arrival, well worth travelling up for!!
4 adults stayed and with the 2 bathrooms it worked so well, the furniture is to die for as well, real luxury! We certainly made good use of the kitchen and fabulous Aga!
The location is very central for everywhere really, we loved exploring the National Trust properties around Northumberland, we just didn't get enough time to fit it all in. Will definitely be back! We wanted to explore so much more but with every bend of the road bringing a new surprise and wow moment, it was a tall order!!
Thank you for letting us stay

Ms Muir

The large garden was fantastic - perfect for children to explore.

Ms Jarvis

The standard of the property was excellent we couldn't beleive it wasn't the main house when we arrived. The furniture, fixtures and fittings were to a very high standard. It was great not to be limited by wanting to take two dogs they were made very welcome and had use of a secure garden.

Mr Wilson

The location is the main reason why we wanted a break in Northumbria; however we did not expect the cottage to be so beautiful.

The location is perfect, with a stunning view of the countryside that made eating breakfast such a pleasurable moment - each and every day.

The cottage more than catered for our every need. The description on the website fails to do it justice!

The welcome message left by Ann made us feel totally at home from the moment we stepped foot through the door.

The hosts are a very nice couple who valued our privacy, but were on call if we needed assistance.

If we were to describe the Coach House in a word, then that word just has to be WOW!

This is one cottage we will definitely be returning too. Thank you Sykes Cottages; and especially a very big thank you to Ann & Bill for ensuring that our winter break was memorable.

Mr Wills

Lovely old house, good area for walking with some nice local pubs. Very friendly but discreet hosts. Another excellant Sykes property.

Mrs Kightley

We really enjoyed the holiday, the house was very inviting and we felt relaxed. This was our first time to Northumbria and we will certainly be back in the future!

Mr Hatton

A beautiful cottage situated in a remote idyllic location. Plenty of space for our party of six adults, and we were very impressed by the period features and lovely bedrooms. The house was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. Owners were unobtrusive but very friendly and helpful. Very relaxing break which was over too soon!

Miss Lindsay

The house was really well equipped and the bedrooms excellent. The owners were extremely pleasant and achieved the right balance of being available to help without intruding.

Mr Garton

This was a great property with charm and character.

Mrs Parkes

The cottage was spacious and very well equipped, the owners could not have been more friendly, and the location provided a very good base for exploring the area. Information leaflets about local attractions provided by the owner were excellent, and the notes about the house and locality were extremely comprehensive.

Mr Garrett

The property was a lovely haven after days out, we were impressed with the standard.

Mrs Brewster

The house was spacious and well-furnished with attractive period pieces. It was warm and comfortable. It was fun to cook on an Aga again as I had one for many years.

Mr Warren-Beresford

We had a relaxing peaceful break at amost stressful time. The little touches by the owners made us feel totally at home and we really didn't want to leave when our time was up. Will definately book up again.

Miss Stephenson

The Coach House offers superb accommodation, and the owners could not have been more pleasant and helpful. The location is one of sheer peace and beauty, whilst the neighbouring countryside has so much in the way of fascinating history. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Mr Leach

Location excellent for peace and quiet. The owners were friendly and provided a bottle of wine for our arrival. We have stayed in rented accommodation all over the country, the Coach House is one of the best we have stayed in.

Prof Jackson

The accommodation was fantastic and more than exceeded our expectations. The hosts were always on hand, but kept a very discreet distance. This was definitely the best holiday accommodation we have ever had . Will be recommending to all friends and family

Mr Vincent

The scenery is spectacular and the house is fairly central for touring the area. A beautiful spot! This is a lovely house to stay in and we were made to feel most welcome by the owners. The village of Bellingham is attractive and has enough shops to cater for most peoples needs.

Mrs Yates

We were delighted with the spaciousness of the house - plenty of room for the children to play whilst we relaxed! Quiet and peaceful with a gorgeous garden: a carefree holiday.

Ms Hanson

It was an absolute delight to stay at the property from the minute we arrived until our departure. It is an absolute gem and I will definitely be going back!
