• "Bridgend Cottage was a delight."

  Only two of us shared the whole building but it always remained cosy and comfortable. Kitchen extremely well eqipped with plenty of space to prepare meals. Lounge areas comfortable with the log fire a real bonus. The only downside was the bed which we found too hard for our liking, but then you can't please everyone. Maybe if you provided a mattress topper for those who prefer softer beds. The cottage in a great village with two pubs, a tea room and community shop. to wake up each morning and watch the river glide by was lovely.

• "Lovely cottage by the river, such a beautiful location."

  Great food in the Cross pub, and fabulous roast dinner at Rita’s (book ahead and if you have a dog let them know as you’ll need to eat in the summerhouse). Cosy drinks at The Swan in front of the fire. Lots of ‘memorial’ walks so good for dog walking. Would recommend.

• "We had a really lovely visit here."

  The house is beautiful and the location is perfect. We had a couple of small problems but Maurice fixed them easily. Rita's tea room was closed at first but opened before we left and the food was really good. We would love to return to Bridgend cottage! Be careful of the dishwasher door!

  Cottage was much larger than expected and immaculate. Kitchen is like a home from home, no equipment/utensils have been forgotten. We had a wonderful week exploring the local area. Would highly recommend.

• "Bridgend Cottage is a gorgeous, large cottage located in a stunningly beautiful village."

  The cottage was clean, incredibly well appointed and perfect for a family get-together. Zigi - the owner - has been extremely helpful and very easy to contact. All instructions were clear and concise. I would love to return and definitely recommend.

• "The location of the cottage is superb, gorgeous garden with lots of song birds and the river at the front and the bridge is fabulous."

  Eardisland is a lovely village, with friendly community shop and pubs. During our stay we visited some of the nearby market towns, castles, and Offa's Dyke, In every case the location was lovely, authentic with beautiful countryside. I would definitely recommend this cottage and area to anyone looking for countryside, walks, and a slower pace of life.

• "Simply wonderful location, spoiled for choice on places to visit nearby."

  Lovely friendly shop just across the bridge, run by volunteers. The cottage was clean and well equipped, although WiFi was a bit patchy. The stairs are short but quite steep. The garden was perfect, sheltered, level and large enough for children and dogs to play in. Not sure how secure though. The only real issue was a double room which looks like it’s aimed for children, where the beds were past their best. However, overall we (5 separate adults) had a wonderful week there.

• "We were thrilled with Bridgend cottage and the village of Eardisland."

  The cottage was spotless, had everything we needed, and was so characterful and charming. We loved it—loved having a king-sized bed; loved having a bathroom downstairs; loved having windows we could open; loved having an open fire; everything. The location was ideal and we met so many friendly people in the village. This all contributed to our having a wonderful visit. (Plus, we love Zigi, the cottage’s owner.) :-)

• "Beautiful Cottage in a beautiful location in rural Herefordshire."

  Cottage kept immaculate and wanted for nothing. View straight over the River Arrow in the beautiful village of Eardisland. Two pubs in the village, food was excellent. Will definitely be returning

• "Beautiful location and sufficiently equipped for a comfortable stay."

  As people of age we found the steepness of the stairs, the low beams and the sloping floors in some areas a challenge. But after all it is a quaint period property and the quirkiness adds to its character.

• "What a lovely cosy cottage with 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms!"

  A house full of history and renovated with care, leaving the original details intact. Also very clean and well-equiped. The bottle of wine and the cake were a warm welcome, and the landlady is a lovely woman who lives in the neighborhood. The house is located in the centre of one of the most beautiful black and white villages. The little shop on the other side of the bridge is a community shop. There are enough nice places to eat within walking distance. We had a very relaxing stay and definitely recommend this beautiful place.

• "The cottage was dirty."

  The duvets on the beds were too small and only a 4.5 tog rating all except one bed which was a 10.5 consequently we were cold at night. The single bed mattresses were so old you could feel the metal springs in the mattress. The pots and pans were disgraceful. I had to wipe out the fridge as there was still food residue on the top shelf and in the doors. The only saving grace was the open fire. The furniture was very dated curtains in bedrooms were hanging off the plastic rails. Not a lot of thought or care in what could be a lovely cottage. Very disappointed.

  I am very sorry you were so unhappy with the Cottage. Our details are left so if any problem you could have called and we would have come immediately to try and correct. We also have a handy man on site at the farm. Many clients find the cottage too warm and often open bedroom windows. The oil central heating was on and location of thermostat details are written so guests can increase temperature if required. In the cupboard in Main Bedroom there were additional duvets 1 King and 2 singles and in other double bedroom wardrobe another duvet of different togs. In addition in the twin bedrooms there were 3 blankets so I am very sorry you were cold. The upstairs has fully fitted carpets. Additional sheets and covers are in drawer in utility room. My secretary and I visited immediately we received the complaint. Apart from 2 single beds the rest are all new. We are now replacing 2 single beds. The same bedroom one curtain had missing curtain hooks and apologies for this, which have now been replaced. There were no other curtains unhooked. We also did not find the cottage dirty. The 2 cleaners had been in on the Friday 3 hours each so a total of 6 hours and are very upset that you didn't find it clean. The kitchen was newly fitted when the property was renovated 5 years ago. The table and 4 chairs are there following requests so clients can eat in the kitchen, but agree space is limited in 400 year old cottage. The chair seats are suede and will be cleaned again. Pots and pans, they are located in 2 separate drawers either side of the table, many saucepans were replaced 2 weeks ago with stainless steel professional cookware by Jean Patrique. Once again I am very sorry to learn of your unhappiness and only wish you had called us on arrival so we could have come and sorted immediately. The farm with holiday let Timber Barn is just 1 mile away. Best regards Property Owner

• "The house is in a lovely location and could be stunning."

  The open fire and woodburner give the house a warm cosy feel and it is well situated for great walks. The village have established some great commemorative walks which are a nice touch. However, in the current environment, particularly with one of the pubs closed due to a covid scare which meant eating in more, it was a painful and frustrating experience to cook in the kitchen which is spoilt by antiquated kitchen appliances, particularly the solid ring electric cooker. With elderly members of the family, the ill fitting toilet seats which are too big for the pans and move when you sit on them it is very disconcerting.

• "Lovely cottage in an idyllic situation."

  The kitchen was very well equipped. The fire was made up ready for us to light which we greatly appreciated. There was plenty to explore both within the very friendly village and in the area close to the cottage. Our young Grandson particularly loved the river which runs in front of the cottage and is easily accessed near the community shop for the purpose of throwing in fallen Autumn leaves.

  Even though the we had several days of rain it did not spoil our stay, however, we did find long dog walks quite limited in the immediate area.

• "Delightful cottage in a quiet village, 2 pubs, a church and a village shop which opens for 3 hrs a day run by volunteers."

  The cottage had everything you could want for 8 people and a dog. Both pubs served good food. Lots of places to visit and NT properties within a few miles. Highly recommend.

• "Lovely view from cottage of bridge on the river arrow, very scenic village!"

  Handy little shop and two pubs within walking distance! Cottage well equipped, just like being at home! Villagers very friendly and welcoming, Rita’s tea rooms excellent, only downside is you cant get a meal out on sun, mon or tue eve as pubs only open for drinks but that seems to be a common theme in that area, only place we found to eat was the new inn at pembridge but have to prebook! Good walking area!

• "The cottage is situated in a perfect position, in the beautiful village of Eardisland."

  When we arrived the cottage was immaculate, every room was clean and fresh and cosy. There was even a lovely welcome gift of biscuits and a bottle of wine waiting for us in the kitchen. The fire was set and ready to be lit, the rooms were aired and the beds were all made perfectly. There is plenty of space for 8 in the cottage, with only 6 of us staying we had room, and a room, to spare. I can't stress enough just how beautiful this cottage, and the village are. The owner, Zigi, even called in on our second day to make sure we were happy with the cottage and say hello. If you have the opportunity to stay here then don't miss out, book this lovely cottage and you won't regret it, we would happily book again when we get the chance.

• "Nice touch with bottle of wine, Swiss roll and a packet of biscuits."

  It wasn’t clean in the kitchen. I had to wash dishes and cutlery and cooking implements, etc. before use. I wiped the sides with an antibacterial wipe and it was filthy. Some of the cupboards were dirty inside. The lid of the bin in the kitchen was filthy. The floors downstairs were dirty as was the stand with the toilet roll on in the downstairs toilet. The bathroom cabinet in the double room at the top of the stairs had hair in it. The kitchen chairs seats were filthy as were the sofas. This was the dirtiest cottage that we’ve ever stayed in. The showers were clean on arrival. It was a beautiful cottage in a lovely setting. More attention needs to be paid to cleaning. Also checking on kitchen equipment as the grater was broken and several pieces of crockery were chipped which harbours germs. We also found it strange that the headboards weren’t attached and any movement caused them to bang against the wall which woke every one else in the cottage up. I hope that this review will allow improvements to be made as it was a beautiful village to stay in and everyone was so friendly.

• "This is the second time we have visited this cottage we like it so much."

  It's situation cannot be better; the view of the river and the bridge is lovely. The cottage suits us well in that there is plenty of living space and bathrooms. The kitchen is small but well equipped.. There is plenty to do and see in the area and the village itself is friendly and welcoming. We love it there!

• "The cottage was really well positioned in a beautiful village."

  The owner kindly split the beds for us as all ladies, however their were a few things that we think could be easily remedied. There weren't enough mugs and some were cracked, there were only 6 dinner plates although lots of smaller ones. The towels were very small and very thin and as we wanted to have a fire both nights there wasn't extra kindling and paper for the second night. Whilst in general the place was clean, after dropping my watch down the side of the bed it came back up covered in dust and spiderwebs.

• "Lovely spacious cottage in the most beautiful village."

  The location on the river was perfect. Everyone so very friendly. Cottage well equipped with comfy beds and powerful showers. Fantastic rear garden for kids to play. I have only one negative comment that cannot be improved anyway. The ceiling beam in the kitchen is very low. My husband, son and son in law are all over 6 feet tall and I spent the week shouting "mind your head". They had a few bumps.

• "Lovely well presented cottage in excellent condition - just great for the 6 of us."

  Many places to visit from here in the week - I doubt we ventured more than 8 miles radius from the cottage. Local community shop can be seen from the house for essentials every day. Thoroughly recommended, and would not hesitate to stay there again and see what else there is to do in the area. Wi-fi excellent for catching up with the outside world. Two tellies in two sitting rooms if you fall out with each other, although we did not have to resort to this!

• "This cottage is in the lovely old village of Eardisland, which was very welcoming."

  The cottage itself was full of character with low beams and open fires but also very comfortable and spacious. It suited us very well as we are three families that meet together and it gave us the space we need and with 4 bathrooms, no queueing! The children loved the garden and river side and we spent a lot of time playing there. We loved this place and the surrounding towns and villages and want to return as there is much more to explore.

• "As the cottage name suggests, it is at one end of the bridge, next to The River Arrow it is very peaceful."

  it’s very easy to relax looking out of the window to watch the birds coming and going on the water. The cottage is very comfortable and larger than the photos show. Very clean, with everything we needed. The village itself is so pretty, and the local shop is just on the the other side of the bridge selling lots of local produce. We visited Hereford to the cathedral to see the Mappa Mundi, which is well worth visiting. Look out for little chapel in the cathedral to see the modern stain glass windows by Tom Denny, stunning. We are sure to stay again at Bridgend Cottage and thanks to Zigi and Nicky who made us feel most welcome.

• "The location was one of the prettiest we have ever stayed in."

  The cottage was absolutely charming and beautifully equipped. We did a lovely walk (one of the local WW1 Memorial Walks) on the Saturday and all ate in the White Swan where we were made extremely welcome. Back to an open fire and a coffee before bed. What’s not to love? Owner (Zigi) was a delight to meet and made sure we had all we needed for s great family weekend

• "Bridgend Cottage is ideally located to explore the surrounding countryside."

  The cottage itself is located in the beautiful village of Eardisland next to the River Arrow and is full of character. Two of us arrived on bicycles and could store them in the garage whilst cars were parked next to the cottage and just across the road in a layby. The cottage was very clean and had all the facilities we needed and was much larger inside than we were expecting. Highly recommended for families or a group of friends wanting to visit the area.

• "The house is in a beautiful location and was extremely clean and well presented."

  The owner had gone to a lot of trouble to tell us where to find the keys, which was useful, and had left us some milk and a bottle of wine (thank you, that was appreciated!) However we encountered some significant problems, given that we were occupying four double bedrooms and therefore had 8 adults to accommodate and feed. 1) Firstly, there were no spare loo rolls. One loo only had a tiny quantity of paper remaining on the one roll. 2) The washing up liquid was two thirds empty and what was there seemed to have been diluted with water. 3) There was no hair dryer anywhere in the house. When asked, the owner simply told us there wasn't one. There would normally be a hair dryer in a B&B or a hotel. 4) The biggest problem was the fridge, which was small and below counter level. Not remotely big enough for food for 8. In addition, the bottom shelf inside the door was missing, meaning there was nowhere to store upright any of our bottles of milk, beer or white wine. The separate freezer was also too small. 5) The kitchen is very small for 6-8 people to occupy. The sink has one draining board on the right and nothing at all on the left (doorway). This makes washing up very awkward. They seem not to have thought about how to maximise the efficiency of the layout. The dish washer was difficult to stack and the lid kept shutting and would not stay open. 6) The saucepans and frying pan were all of very cheap and poor quality. 7) The door into the main double bedroom did not shut. So no privacy. Yes, the doorway was old and warped, (character) but the problem could easily have been solved by shaving down one corner of the door, to make it fit. 8) There was no information about WiFi. Eventually I found the router and the passcode on the back of it. 9) The TV in the main sitting room was tiny. Impossible for 8 people to sit there and watch TV together - and this was World Cup weekend. The setting of this property is idyllic. But our impression was that the owner (who had left a card advertising skiing apartments in the Alps, so is presumably is a professional landlord) has decided to spend as little as possible on facilities. On the positive side, the beds were very comfortable with good quality bedding and sheets. In conclusion, we would not rent this property again unless the facilities are improved. It is a pity, because the house is in a stunning location, which we otherwise enjoyed very much. Overall not good value for nearly £900 for two nights' stay

• "The wonderful location was the best bit."

  The cottage was lovely too, but we thought there would be a freezer. (Never gave it a thought that there would not be one there). This caused a bit of a problem in that we were there for Christmas and had things that needed freezing! Luckily we had a freezer bag and managed with that, but a freezer (or even a freezer compartment in the fridge) would have made everything just that bit easier. Apart from that, it was lovely.
