• "The most amazing cottage, the photos do not do this place justice."

  It is immaculately clean, the comfiest beds, warm and cosy (we didn’t have the best weather so was lovely to come back to at the end of the day. Surrounded by sheep/rabbits and so peaceful. Catriona (although we didn’t have the pleasure to meet her) gave us really helpful information by text and was quick at responding if we had any questions. House had absolutely everything you could need plus more , beds were so comfortable and the mezzanine room has skylights to view the stars . What an amazing place and if we return to Skye will definitely stay here again. Probably the best cottage have stayed in. Stayed with my sister but easily could accommodate a family with a lot of space Paula and Donna

• "Ridge End was just perfect, everything we want in a holiday cottage and more."

  A good starter pack for the log burner was provided and the central heating was simple to control which isn’t always the case in some places we’ve stayed! Beds were very comfortable and I had the best sleep in years. Location is in the north of Skye but everywhere is accessible by car and the scenery is amazing. Due to the time of year, we stayed in during the evenings and ate out for lunches - Three Chimneys at Talisker and Columba 1400 in Staffin were both lovely, Columba 1400 meriting a return visit for the amazing Cullen Skink! Great communication with Catriona who owns the cottage, letting us know when the Aurora Borealis were likely and other info we might find useful. Unfortunately due to circumstances we didn’t get to meet. It’s a solid 10/10 for everything regarding this holiday. If I return to Skye I’d definitely go back to Ridge End and recommend it to anyone thinking of a holiday on Skye.

• "Many people have already described how wonderful this place is, I can only confirm this."

  The environment is impressive (lots of wild rabbits and sheep right next to the house), the view from the house. The house is very well equipped, we loved being there. They drew our attention to the potholes, but we managed to get into one in the rain and got a flat tire before our arrival in the middle of the night, literally in the middle of nowhere, 20 minutes from the house on a one-lane road (5 km from UIG). I asked Catriona for help, she was very kind and helpful, she asked a friend to come pick up my family and take them to the accommodation late at night while I arranged the car service. So be careful on the one-lane roads, there are huge potholes (all single-lane roads on the island). The trip to Skye was a great experience for us, even though we went in October. If we ever return, we would choose Ridge End Cottage again without a second thought, even though it is really a very remote part of the island.

• "Probably one of the best place I've ever been in 30 years."

• "This lovely cottage in Kilmaluag is in an idealic location with absolutely stunning views, and wildlife around us, the hosts were helpful and gave great advice about the local area and shops!"

• "We loved staying at this cottage!"

  It had everything we needed and we really enjoyed the location. 2 things that could be improved… 1- most of the dishes in the cabinets were filthy and required us to hand wash before using them. The dishwasher did not seem to work well. 2- the double bed downstairs is on a slant. I’m not sure if there is something bent or broken but this caused 2 terrible nights sleep for my grandparents staying in that room. All in all, this cottage is so welcoming and a lovely place to stay at for your holiday!

• "What can I say?"

  Catriona and Peter and wonderful hosts, their attention to detail: the comfort of the croft, the cleanliness, all the things needed to make a wonderful stay are all there and their communication with us was super; from informing us about the key safe to enter to updating us on the actual day of arrival that it would be ready slightly earlier if we wished. Loved the mezzanine bedroom, watching the stars and then the snow fall was incredible. We also watched golden eagles hovering over the hills from there and rabbits aplenty digging in the snow, fabulous. To see the sunrise coming up over the hilltops is magical, especially as we are both keen photographers, to capture that was really special. The sofas are extremely comfy and we made good use of them as we had a lot of snow during our stay this January! Catriona checked on us several times to ask if we were okay or needed anything. Both Peter and Catriona arrived with salt to clear the path and extra logs as there was a possibility the power could go off. Nothing was too much for them. Would we recommend and return - without a doubt! Can't wait.

• "We have just returned from Ridge End Cottage after a fantastic trip to the Isle of Skye."

  The cottage is located right at the top of the Totternish peninsula and about as far North as you can possibly go on Skye without tripping into the Atlantic and swimming over to the Outer Hebrides (disclaimer - I do not recommend the swimming or the tripping!) The cottage is therefore quite isolated but this just adds to its magic. From the cottage, there are 360-degree panoramic views which constantly change throughout the day depending on the weather, but even standing and washing the dishes is an experience, never before have I rushed to wash the dishes! The cottage offers basically everything you require for your trip and Catriona and Peter are fantastic hosts and live locally so can respond quickly to requests that you may have. There is a choice of three bedrooms and one has fantastic views over the end of the Totternish Ridge and you can sit up in bed and watch eagles and buzzards majestically flying on the thermals, sometimes you can even hear them call to each other, that is an experience that you cannot miss. The cottage's location is reasonably near some of the most popular outdoor locations such as the Quiraing, the Storr, Mealt & Lealt Falls, Staffin Beach, and Brothers Point. All within less than 1/2 hour drive along one of the most scenic routes in Scotland. Other tourist destinations are 1 to 2 hours drive (make a day off it and travel across the Island). Staffin is the nearest large (by Skye standards) village with two shops, and a great cafe at Columba 1400 and Portree is about a 50 min drive. The weather on Skye is very changeable so you will require a mixture of clothing including waterproofs and shorts (yip both will be required). It is also a big place so the weather could be completely different at the other end of the island. Anyway, I am probably writing too much and slowing you down hitting that booking button. So in summary please book Ridge End Cottage you will not regret your choice to enjoy living for a short time on this magical island. We will definitely book Ridge End Cottage for future return trips to the Misty Isle.

• "Such a beautifully comfortable and cosy cottage."

  We were looking for a quiet and relaxing place to spend a week, and this cottage provided that. Lovely to snuggle up to a log fire after coming in from the elements. Really well kitted out kitchen, and great to have the option of two separate sitting areas. The owners were super lovely and went out of their way to respond to our plea for help when a pipe burst. Highly recommend this cottage if you want to get away from the madding crowd and relax.

• "The only thing was that there was three lights not working in the living room and there was no instructions on how to get more wood for the log burner if you required it."

  Hi. I’m so sorry you did not have the information you required about places to eat and where to get wood. These were in an attachment I had sent to you but maybe you did not receive it although the same pack is in the cottage. I will leave this out in a more conspicuous place as a result of your feedback. The light bulbs in 3 of the ceiling spotlights do need changing and I am so sorry, but as you will realise, it is not a straightforward procedure with the height of the ceiling. With the time required for a full clean of the cottage between guests, we have been waiting for enough of a gap to get the equipment and resources required, in the cottage in order to safely make the changes. As there are so many other spotlights and the lamps, we felt there was a good level of light. We take on board all your comments and address them. Thankyou for taking the time to feedback.   We loved it from the second we arrived. The cottage is beautiful, kept immaculately, and has everything that anyone could need. Comfy, cosy, and situated perfectly for adventuring about. Equally lovely to stay in and relax, watching the wildlife and the stars. We also cannot recommend the hostess highly enough. Catriona was so welcoming, kind, thoughtful and easy to contact when necessary. Nothing was too much trouble, and we even need to thank her chickens as they provided us with some lovely fresh eggs!   The cottage is in the most beautiful location with stunning views all around it. We even saw the Northern lights on the last night looking out to the sea which was truly amazing! • "The cottage was more than we expected the photos do not do it justice."

  It had every thing you could want and more for a break.Loads of information books plenty of games, plenty of kitchen utensils . The shower is fantastic with lovely thick white fluffy towels, the whole cottage is very clean and extremely welcoming. Amazing views and plenty to do just didn’t stay long enough, next time I’m staying longer. Will definitely be back .. also loving all the environmental friendly products from the shower wash to washing detergent and the rest. Beautiful place.

• "Loved this cottage."

  It was exactly what we wanted, out of the way of the busy parts of Skye, but still close enough to see all the sights. The view from the cottage was great and the log fire in October was ideal. I also loved that they used eco-friendly cleaners and items around the cottage. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be booking again when we are up there in future.

  It is full of everything you need and the owner was only a text away for info if you needed it. The place was immaculate and you could tell that it had been cleaned to within a inch of its life. You can tell the owners really have pride in the cottage. The scenery on Skye is jaw dropping, and the people were all welcoming. We have already booked for next year

• "Went for a weekend away and could not of been happier."

• "The cottage is very well appointed and spotlessly clean."

  There was plenty of room and a good supply of towels etc. There is a wood burner with a starter pack of wood but the central heating was more than adequate without this. The property is at the North of the island, which was where we particularly wanted to stay, and is surrounded by beautiful views. Some might find it rather remote, as visiting other locations entails a longer journey.

• "Ridge End Cottage is in a very special and magical corner of the Isle of Skye."

  While some travelers may not like the remoteness of this part of the island, we found it a perfect place to experience the mystical nature of this island. The cottage itself is extremely comfortable and has every amenity you could ever imagine needing on a holiday. But what's really special is that from every room there are views of the sea and of the Quiraing (there's also a footpath you can take to hike the Quiraing just up the hill from the cottage!) and your nearest neighbors are the McIntyre's sheep, whose soft bleeting will lull you to sleep. Peter and Catriona provided us with excellent information for making ourselves comfortable in their home and for exploring Skye. I highly recommend Ridge End Cottage and can't wait to return!

• "A cosy, yet spacious, and well appointed cottage in a stunning and tranquil location."

  The owners put in many thoughtful touches, particularly for our late evening arrival. The views from the master bedroom are the best I have ever experienced! The only minor issue (which is so insignificant it's only worth mentioning as its the ONLY thing between this cottage and absolute perfection) is that the fixed shower head is not well aligned so that most of the water just goes straight across the cubicle and down the wall. That being said, we absolutely adored our stay here and miss it already. We'll definitely be coming back to Syke, and we'll be sure to try for this cottage again too!

  Golden Eagles sighted from the cottage. Very well equipped for self catering. Always warm and cozy after a cold day out walking. We would definitely recommend and would love a return visit. Thank you Catriona and Peter for a wonderful week we will all remember for a very long time.

  The kitchen is well equipped and spotlessly clean. We had fresh local eggs and a tea, coffee, milk supply to get us started. Catriona and Peter also went the extra mile and came to our rescue one evening when the DVD player would no longer work bringing their own DVD player as a replacement. We could not ask for better customer service. The weather gods smiled on us and we had fine, unseasonably warm conditions to explore this stunning island. Thank you and we would highly recommend a stay at Ridge End Cottage to explore this beautiful part of Skye.

• "The cottage at Ridge End is just a wonderful little escape."

  The cottage is exceptional. It has more than anything you will need for your stay - the kitchen is stocked like a full kitchen - not just a few little broken utensils and mis-matched plates like you often get at rental homes, oodles of towels and blankets, and comfortable beds & furniture. The views are stunning and the location at the end of the Trotternish is a great starting point to see most of what’s what on Skye while still being away from it all - and any drive you do to get to things is breathtaking and part of the fun. Catriona was just lovely and always available with answers to questions. To sum it up: we booked 7 days and extended to 10 we loved it so much.

• "We Stayed at Ridge End Cottage in November, Even though the weather was very wet and windy at times we were very warm and cosy."

  The Cottage was superb, very clean with lovely furnishings and the kitchen has all the facilities you could want. The tv and internet were excellent for the long winter evenings. The views from the cottage are gorgeous. The bedrooms are lovely with very comfy beds and nice warm Quilts. The log fire was nice on the windy evenings and the owners provided a nice amount of logs for our first evening and also provided us with some lovely fudge which was a nice touch. Overall one of the nicest cottages we have stayed in. We hope to be back in the near future.

• "Spacious cottage with amazing views in every direction."

  Six of us stayed here, four adults and two children, plenty of room for all without feeling on top of each other. Woodburner in the open plan living room/dining/kitchen. Mezzanine bedroom (big enough for double bed plus sofas!) above living room had superb views over the rural countryside, mountains in the distance. Two other large bedrooms (one double, other twin) and a modern bathroom. This is the perfect base to enjoy peace and tranquillity. Evening strolls at Duntulm castle ruins as the sun disappears, Uig coastal village for real ale and exploring the fairy glens, or hiking the magestic Storr are not to be missed. I wish I lived closer to this beautiful part of the country. Highly recommend a stay here.

  One week is too short, if the weather is bad as we had it( can't change that). Loved every minute of it even the wild windy days. Would highly recommend the cottage and the location, lots of farm animals and wild life to see as long as you are prepared for 4 seasons in week!

• "Very comfortable accommodation in a great remote location."

  House is well stocked with utensils crockery etc. The mezzanine bedroom is wonderful! Satellite TV is provided (should this be important to you) but be aware this can be easily disrupted should the weather turn nasty and due to the location it will not be so easy for the proprietor to fix. Fortunately Skye is such a beautiful place, for us the lack of Sky TV was not a major loss. All in all a great holiday base and would definitely consider booking Ridge End again.
